Some the moves were cool but the whole grab the board and spin it is the equivalent of BOARD Offs which did nothing for the perception of freestyle rider except promote that the sport was heading in a gay direction
I feel the same will happen with surfboards -
Do those boards spins in front of surfers and I am sure they will call the gay police
Strapless airs off a wave with a grab are an entirely different thing and should be endorsed.
JUSt my thoughts

There is actually a reason for the grab and spin and it is not to look cool. Since surf boards are directional, i.e. pointy end goes forward, jumping grabing the board, spinning the pointy end around the other direction, landing, and riding off is a way to gybe the board.

I don't get the hate here.
I wonder how many of the people bashing this little video clip can even land a strapless air consistently.
It's a good video,
it's basic, but shows mastery of skills that many of us aspire to.
Jon's a great rider, and this style takes finesse and skill -not huge rocker and boots to bail you out of awkward landings...
So, no complaints from me on the video!

agreed, Jon is a top class strapless rider, his npx videos and the advice he gives on losethestraps.com is very genuine and helpful.
Some of the arrogant people posting here would struggle to even waterstart strapless let alone switch feet!
The guy is a professional asking for genuine comments not people trying to point score!

It is great to see more strapless footage.
Keep up the stoke...
Mr. hot I appreciate your concern for our sport & limiting the gayness of maneuvers.
I have been surfing for over 40 years, own a surf shop on the North Shore of Oahu (Surfing Capital of the world), & I am well respected by many Top Pro surfers.
Now check out my Gay moves:

The surfers I have shown this footage think it is sick & want to learn how.
Good work Jon. Keep making those videos...
Aloha, Ride Safe, Have Fun...

That Go Pro vid is
Shhweeet!! bro, love that camera angle, i watched it over 5 times back to back. Could only dream to kill the spots you guys kill, it's a blessing!! to have the waves, wind and flat water all at one time,We've never had those kind of conditions here in Nassau. Keep the vidz come,Bros, it's summer time here that means our kites go into hibernation till October. will need the strapless vidz to keep me sane.
Kite surfing is in the waves with a surfboard any other way, just doesn't make sense!!!

I like those vids, thanks for posting them
I just got on my 6' surfboard yesterday for the first time and seeing these videos and what's possible has really got me pumped to get out on it again. Was really tricky just getting on the damn thing, once moving was easier, turning around is a whole other ball game though
Some glad I didn't sell it.
