Rise Quiver Help

I am thinking of getting a quiver of OR Rises. Now that they come in 1m increments, if I choose wisely I should get the exact range and overlap that I am looking for.

I am about 190 lbs (85 kg). I ride both a mako wide and a dimitri pro comp. I am looking to cover 14-38 mph (+/- a bit). I most frequenly ride in 17-24, so I want to chose a kite for that first and then choose a lighter air kite and a high wind kite. I am wondering if my core kite should be 11 or 12 meters.

I like to ride well-powered for speed and big air. I usually have a quiver like 8-11-14 or 7-10-13. I like light bar-pressure (due to tendency to develop tennis elbow) and I like kites that turn fast.

Any suggestions from current OR Rise riders would be appreciated.

choosing a quiver is always a tough one for me
there are so many combos to try.
I'm guessing that-
in 14 and at you're weight, a 13m or a 14m would do it for sure and still have great top end.
in the core wind range of 17-24, the 9m or 10m, an 11m will be a little on the big side.
at 38plus, the 6m would be plenty powered and still allow comfort in 50plus gusts
while reaching down to 25plus in the lulls, the 7m has a litlle better low end
the smaller xpd's, 10m and smaller, have very nice bar pressure.

i'm riding '09 rises and consequently only had even sizes to choose from. I've got the 8/10/14 combo - i would only need a 6 once or twice per year, here, so i went with the 8. Had they offered a 7, i would have gotten that. when i bought them last year i weighed 180-185, i now weigh about 170. Even now at 170, i love the 10m for that 17-24 wind range, so at 190, i don't think the 9 would be enough kite as your go-to kite. I'd look at either the 10m or 11m, and since you have 20 lbs on me, maybe consider the 11m. Haven't ridden the 2010's, but from what i've heard, i don't think there was much change to the low end. 2010 improvements gave a little better range at the top end. With either the 10m or 11m, i think you should go with the 14 for your big kite to get you out in light winds. with a big board, i can get out in 12mph or so, though not a ton of fun til about 14mph, and i can comfortably hold that down to 20mph, and really still be ok into the 22-23 range if the wind picks up. I'll rig the 10 if it's 18+ when i'm setting up. Also, i'd opt for the 7 over the 6 for the small one. spacing-wise, the 7/10/14 combo probably makes the most sense.

I am a bit lighter than you and the 6-8-12 combo gets me out and comfortable in pretty much all conditions. I think the 7-10-13 might be perfect...but a meter difference on either side would probably be just fine as well. For your main kite, over 20 kts and I think you would be powered on the 10 m. I'm 85kg and riding 09 Rises with a Litewave TS133 board and a Litewave 169 for light wind days, but due to getting them cheap off ebay and also wanting to keep my options open I have 6-8-10-12 quiver, but only cos I got them cheap. I would probably ditch the 8 out of those if I had to, as the 10 does me to 30 and the 6 should kick in from there (it a 2010 so has a bit more down low)

If I were you and I was in the market for 2010's I would probably go 6-9-12, or 7-10-13, depending on which size Mako you have and how early it gets you up and riding (my 169 easily gets me going from 14mph on my 09 12m). If you are on the 150 I think you'd be OK on the 12, but if you can try one.

The 2010's do have more grunt than the 09's, so you may find the 12 combi works fine.

thats where I am with my 09's, my 10m is my go to really for 20-30, though if its over 25 gusting over 30 I go 8, oh the choices

Im 165 pounds and can kite at 10 knots with my 09 Rise 10m on a Spleene Door.

My questions is:
Is it worth it to get a 12m? I don't know if I really need it?

I found that in the range you are mostly riding 17-24, the 8.0 Rise would be plenty to surf
and a 10.0 Rise for powered up
I like the Diablos' in the smaller sizes 6-8-10 and the Rise 14 for all other wind
have not had the chance to ride my 2010 8.0 rise
yet
