Flysurfer Speed3 wins hangtime-comp with ease

Postby Cortex » Thu Jun 10, 2010 10:24 am

A part of the swedish Flysurfer-team attended Öland Kitejam, which is one of the stages of the Swedish Kitesurfing Tour, this weekend.

We really proved that the Speed3 is a hang-time monster. :D

The final results (from www.kitetour.se):

Hangtime: times during final (best hangtime during heat)
1. Peter Vikmo 5.4sek (6.2sek) - FLYSURFER
2. Mike TK Blomvall 4.1sek (4.1sek) - NOBILE
3. Henrik Hagdorn 3.6sek (3.8sek) - CABRINHA
4. Kaj Kjellgren 3.4sek (3.6sek) - FLYSURFER

Peter was riding his Speed3 19 Deluxe. You all might recognize Mike Blomvall... he has been highly ranked on the PKRA-tour for several years now and is Nobiles #1 star. So when it comes to skills Mike is head and shoulders over the rest of us in the heat.

I was riding my Speed3 15 Deluxe and messed up really badly during the final. Crashed hard on my first jump and lost my board. Felt like it took me an eternity to get it back.... then the wind died off.
Anyway, compared to the other guys in the heat I am easily the worst rider of them by a huge margin but still managed to get 4:th. I blame my success completely on the Speed3's insane hangtime.

So big congrats to Peter! You rock dude!

the hangtime is really amazing of the S3 19...hard to beat it in its windrange...if not impossible!

What windspeeds did you have?

The wind was quite up'n down. My guess is that it was around 10 knots - 15 knots in the beginning of the final heat then it dropped to 10-11 knots during the last part of it.

10 minutes after the final the wind increased to around 20 knots. I got some really sweet hangtime from my Speed3 15 then. :D

Congrats to Peter for winning.
It's got to be due to his skills alone to have achieved that result with an "aerodynamically inferior" kite. Peter must like impossible challenges.
But can PMU explain why he made that apparently defying reason choice of kite?
