I wanted to share this little video of Mitch, who is one of our kite kids. He's 11 years old, using a 7m Rebel in 10 to 12 knots and got hit with a box jelly fish or also know as a sea wasp, which really hurt. His reactions are classic, hope you like and have a laugh!!

I remember vividly learning to kitesurf in Vietnam and getting stung by jellyfish. I was doing so much body dragging, and I would lose the board and upon returning to it, there would be a jellyfish right there. Immediately, I would lose control of the kite and be dragged away at high speed, only to have to start the process all over again. I'd come back to shore with stories of arriving at the board with a jellyfish lying in water start position, with tentacles draped over the board in the straps, waiting for me.... I finally decided that in order to keep my enthusiasm up, that they were more afraid of me than I was of them... I still could visualize (and dreaded) body dragging face first into one...

None in my lake here but there were some in Thailand ... the locals all had amazing collections of scars.
Didn't see very many, but one day I was out riding there I went shooting past a little brown blob and thought "Crap a jellyfish be just my luck to wipe out now"
splash
Had to body drag back past it to get my board, but thankfully either there were no tentacles or they missed me.
Poor wee kid

Could be worse though (it can always be worse)
A British kite-surfer was left fighting for life after he became trapped in a two mile slick of poisonous jellyfish off the coast of Costa Rica.

I get hit by Pacific Portuguese Man-O-War (blue bubble guys) frequently. But, I've been hit by a box jellyfish once or twice.... much worse! Lke a factor of 10 over the Man-O-War stings!

G'day Guys,
Mitch is actually a really polite kid, but man, when ya gotta let go ... let it go. Even in severe pain he still did the right thing and got himself and the gear safe, good on him!!
Toby, it was way too funny to bleep out the good bits, so I thought bugger it, the good bits stay!!!
cheers for now,
Robbie
ps apparently he's a bit peeved at me for posting the vid, oh well, what goes around comes around, my turn will come I'm sure!

Tell Mitch he handled it well. Congrats to him for keeping his cool, taking the pain, and keeping everything under control. Excellent survivor and waterman. You'd be a good one to have around in an emergency.
Good job, Mitch!

As much as I laughed with his reaction, the guy is a little legend to hold it together like that!
