GoPro kite Hero Line Mount

Postby MikeYQM » Thu Jun 17, 2010 4:14 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm using a GoPro HD on the Kite Hero line mount. I'm using the 2010 Cabrinha IDS bar and my question is: Where is the best place to mount it on the lines? I had it just above the swivel on the front lines but got A LOT of unwanted movement and made self-launching difficult. Is there anywhere better for this bar?

Thanks,

Mike

hey mike, try mounting the kitehero where the front lines come together. It's best to have someone hold the camera from bouncing around when launching but it still possible to launch with just someone holding the kite.
IMO the shorter front lines on the Cab bar make the shot with the best perspective.
Check out this shot with the GoPro HD and Kitehero mount from last weekend on the Oregon coast.

You might try putting the camera underneath the mount ........
KH have a link on their site for this http://www.kitehero.com/2010/06/line-mount-setup/

Also, for peace of mind suggest you use a leash, for the camera setup to the rig.....there was
recent thread on this issue too.

Great idea. Is there an easy way to invert the video afterwords?

dont know how to flip video except in edit software ...... I use this just for stills.
However on the Gopro site they say they are working on a firmware upgrade
which will let this happen on the camera.......

99% sure you can tell the camera if it's upright (Up) or upside down (Upd) in the menu system ...

In the next firmware release (for the HD at least) you can, but not out of the box. Flip it in video editing software for now.

Ok then 100% sure you can do it with the 5Mpx non-HD GoPro
I know that Windows Live Movie Maker rotates video just fine. My wife likes to get artistic when she films :o

Any trick to mount the 'Line Mount' to a 5 line kite? I didn't realize it wasn't made for a 5-line kite when I bought it.
If someone found a way to modify it to make it work, I would like to hear about it.
