The seasonal winds are indeed late by about six weeks so far. Anthonys kites tours to Phan Rang are killing the pain with some epic days. ENE winds bring the cemetery back to life with some good swell seeing 3-4m's and 20+ days. Watch out for the fishermans lines. Main beach Mui Ne sucks at the moment as it's cross off. It's to be expected although a little late the next few weeks should see a good improvement. Vietnam still has loads of wind if your willing to chase it and put out. The guys coming back from Phu Quy island have been blown off the face of the earth with 30-45 knot days. Constant. Con Doa Island is another spot people seem to forget about!! http://www.stormkiteboarding.com/

It is about 100 km to the northeast (65 miles), outside the picture.

Regarding Phan Rang I have couple of questions..

Do you need to have a permit to surf there?
Is there any other cheaper way to go there ? ( 100US with the kite surf tour) seems a little bit to much, especially if you want to go there more then one time

Good winds!

Northern Monkey: on your map it show the wind come from SE. I keep reading it comes from NE, which is sideoffshore?

Please clarify. Thanks!

Toby the wind is indeed cross on shore North Easter in Mui Ne Bay. Rotate the image 45 degrees for our true location.

With regards to the tours. The guys have put out over the last few years to bring us this great spot. I don't know of any unhappy customers, no matter the cost. They contribute to the local community and put on a dam good trip. Getting permission to kite and doing it safely is all part of the deal.

Go up there at your own risk. Expect to possibly be arrested, have your gear stolen or risk your life when you get it wrong. Do the right thing and show a little respect.

... you best see Viet Nam Kitesurfing tours if you want to go to Phan Rang, the likelyhood of getting busted is high and he takes care of the bribes, not just the Police but the army. Anthony and the gang take care of all the boring stuff, you get to kite and enjoy your self, so well worth the money.

Phan Rang is now my wifes and my sons favorite kiting spot, we all loved it! We've barely gotten back and already polanning the next trip!

cheers,

Robbie

Hi Toby! It was not on the map . Further North about 120km, another province call Ninh thuan. But why nobody mention Vungtau. Nina has changed the wind direction. I kite three times a week here and some day it blowed like Penghu ,Taiwan.

Hi Nija, thx for the info. I know now where it is, just try to get the exact location. Or is it all along the beach in front of the town or further south?
