In all honesty, you'd have to test ride a couple of different kites and decide which one you like the most. At the point that you can ride, you have to decide which one you like most based on how it feels to you. Each kite has a reasonably large folllowing. If there was one that was truly the best, all the others would die off due to lack of sales.

Throughout this, what... 6 year old thread, there's not too much mention of Ocean Rodeo. I've owned Ozone Catalyst, Cabrinha Switcblade , and North Evo kites. After trying the OR Prodigy, I was hooked. It's just a great overall kite and blows away the other kites I've owned. It flies forward in the window (which I like), absorbs nasty gusts without being overly jerky, stays in the air during lulls, turns fast and with steady power, loops well, and drifts nicely when surfing. It also re-launches fairly quickly if your unfortunate enough to drop it in the waves. I think it's also a great kite for a beginner because it's very stable, especially in gusty conditions. I don't know about jumping as I ride strapless and haven't mastered strapless jumps yet. No I'm not associated with OR. I just love the kites.

from the above long list of kites, If the options are

Slingshot Rally vs Cabrinha Radar (yes, Radar :)), can someone please give a suggestion.

I am a beginner and am leaning towards the Radar, but am afraid that I might be losing out on a great deal on the Rally (basically, they are both available at the same low/discounted price).

If progression is my main aim, should I choose Radar over Rally?

Thanks,
AdroVempo.

Get a Naish Pivot, awesome kites for pretty much everything short of a megaloop. I wish I could try enough other kites to be able to compare, like the OR Prodigy above, but I cannot do that. All I can say is that after 10 years of kiting when I first flew a 2015 Pivot 9m I was hooked. Now have a 2016 7m too and it is even better. Can't speak for larger sizes, but would love to have a 2017 or 2018 6m kite for this season in Cape Town. Check out Kevin Langaree's KEVVLOG #34 to see what he can do with a 2018 9m Pivot in Cape Town, amazing!
