yep like a swing or pendulum effect.

you fail to mention one of the most important parts. redirect the kite down in front of you for a powered landing.

Why not?

Pretty hard to judge from this video. I would recommend to get someone on the beach or another kites to make a video.

My best guess based on this:
It looks like your kite is pretty much directly above you when you hit the water.
It should already be in the direction where you want to go. You might also allow the kite to go to far back (eg to two instead of one) but it is hard to judge.

At this height you probably want to send it forward the moment you hit the highest part of your jump.
Note that it will vary due to conditions/kite size and how high you go.
Just redirect earlier until it starts to work.

Lanbro

When i send the kite I want it flying quick so I am not fully sheeted, when I want to check and turn the kite background just past the zenith I sheet in really hard with a slight lead on the redirecting hand. As others have said use your eyes to develop the timing.but you don't have to see the kite just seeing the lines will help.

Now comes the important point, at least for me. I trim my small kites so that they have a fair amount of backstall at the end of their sheeting range. This allows me to stop the kite quickly just after the zenith, without it I don't think I could be so accurate.

However you may need to relax the sheeting to get the kite moving again for the redirect. For me this is the time I most like to look at the kite so that I can see how it is flying. After all you want to be aiming to fly it about a bit up there, maybe eventually heliloop setc

Maybe, for me, the quick glance at the kite is just a cue for me to get the sheeting/redirecting right and will disappear eventually, but I seem to have time to do this before spotting the landing. I also think it is helping me develop my redirect options.

Any changes will screw with your timing and so if you are not bearing away before carving up to the jump maybe it's time to chuck that into the mix as well. I also prefer to feel like I am sitting on the heelside rail before a jump rather than just leaning back. Not saying it will maximize your height, I am so old and decrepit I just want to maximize control.

Kiteswede - sorry no idea from video!

Regards Herman

Kiteswede

Had a second look at video. One thing I would say is you have not turned the board towards the kite for the landing. Possibly a lack of redirect as well or you have not turned the board because the kite is not there to be turned towards.

When I first started jumping with a kahoona I could not air transition with it because I had too much backstall trimmed in and it wasn't redirecting quick enough. It was that that got me looking at the kite at this point of the jump.

Perhaps you pulled for the redirect and the kite did not move as you expected - time to look? Either sheet out a bit to get the redirect quicker, pull harder or earlier or trim to reduce backstall........to get the kite moving after stopping it at the zenith.

Regards Herman.
