Athen, I don't know those location personally.
Tornado is in Safaga...looking at a map NE is side shore, means N and NE will be very gusty near shore, out on the water it will be cleaner.
Ibi & Friends is at the Mercure hotel?

Hi Toby,
finally I booked in El Gouna, a bit expensive but I think I did a gift to me because I saw some amazing descriptions and feedbacks. Fallen in love...
What do you think?
I will be there this week and stay there for 2 weeks, do you have any advice about the kite size? is it worth also to bring 12 or 13 mt kites? I prefer not to rent there
I preferably would leave my big kite at home to avoid traveling to heavy, but if necessary to take all winds I will bring it
I saw you've been there isn't it? hopefully you can advice on kite sizes or best time to kite there along the day
thank thank thanks!!!

Egypt can be anything!
From 5-40 knots.
I only ride 18, so cannot comment on sizes you should bring.
My advice, bring all !

Is the water deep enough to hydrofoil comfortably?
How is early August like in terms of conditions? (air/water temp, wind)?
thanks

Depends where you go...Egypt is big and has many spots.
Soma Bay is deep (just stay away from some areas with reef)
El Gouna is quiet a walk to the deep water.
Hurghada at the south is deep close to shore.
Hot air (30-40°C). Warm water 28°C. No wetsuit needed.
Wind is hit or miss...can be daily, can be nothing. But, with a Hydro you should be fine!

anyone can recommend a spot&hotel for going with the family? Ideal setup would be an all-inclusive hotel as close to a launch as possible. Ideally with area suitable for both a beginner (daughter on TT) and hydrofoil for me. Thanks!

Go to Hurgada and stay at the Mecure hotel which is a 5 min walk along the beach to Colona water sports it has a killer beach for beginners just upwind of the kite shop and they have a rescue boat . Don't stay at the Magawish it's not that nice . You can store you gear at Colona and it's safe . You can foil right out of colon water sports as long as you stat below the reef or you can foil right out of the Mecure hotel as there is a wind surf shop there.

Have a look at Some Bay.
It has fantastic hotels, and a kite spit which is immediately deep.
Few reefs to look out for.
El Gouna has many hotels, also 5* which family would love. But most spots are shallow and have quiet a walk.
Many things to do for family though.
