Fishing kitesurfing ?

Postby kitevan » Wed Feb 16, 2011 9:31 am

Trolling (pulling a line with a fake little fish and hook at the end in order to catch pelagic fish like mackerel) works wonders with windsurfing. I have been pretty succesful in the past although our waters are not so rich in fish (anymore). Has anybody tried or witnessed this with kitesurfing? Might be ok to do when not windy enough to try tricks etc, mowing the lawn for some purpose, that is.

Been catching heaps of tuna, Mack, and Blue fun, also got a few Spanish mackerel when they were running. Got it down pat with my rig now, and get the fish up and hanging over the shoulder within 5 mins 👍🏽

Here’s a link to a Mack tuna

When I clicked on this I was going to say something like "what a ridiculous idea, what planet are you on"

I was wrong, I now want to catch fish too.

How are you every going to explain that one to the concerned citizen walking on the beach, the homeowners association, neighborhood council, city elders, county commission, beach patrol, state legislature, game warden, environmental monitors, the Audubon society and the SPCA?

LOL I'd love to give kite-fishing a try.

I am not a fisherman, so forgive me for asking a stupid question: How the hell did you subdue that fish? I was expecting you to pull out a knife and plunge it into its brain or to smack it against your surfboard or something. It seems pretty calm. Has it been on the line for a long time tiring itself out?

That’s very impressive, good skills on both board, kite and fish capture. I’m still slightly confused as to what the line and float is attached to, is this trailing behind your board?
