5-6 knots, there are some problems (can extent taht to 8/9knots):
- the relaunch
- the kite staying in the air.
u r light, u can ride at 5-6 knots easely with a raceboard or a foilboard and a 15/19 flysurfer or a 17/18 new lightwind LEI kites (whatever the brand)
problems:
relaunch
under 6-7 knots, only flysurfers relaunch and may be LEI on 5th line or with a ERA system (zeeko brand)
kite in the air:
at 5/6 knots, LEI and Arcs kites tend to fall to the ground/water. and u need to get a bit skilled to keep them in the air ( sinning, looping, whatever), flysurfers in deluxe materiels can keep up until 4/5 knots and will backstall after that in the middle of the window.
note that a wet kite, relaunches harder (foil, LEI,Arc)
i ride in LW winds , for safety, i wait a solid 8knots, that means , i can keep up with lulls until 5 knots, 8knots , i have no trouble for relaunches and the kite is parked and powered and going upwind.
the huge advantage u have is that u r a lightweight rider. and sub 10knots every 5kg is a huge advantage
i went from 65 to 73 kg... i can guarantee u , that my low end....suffered...
my LW board was a 140/42 at 7knots and now...i need solid 8knots....i ll get a directionnal 170/45 for 6 to ? ( and i will hope i won t get more fat
)
