TRX suspension Workout for Kitesurfing

Postby TurcoLoco » Mon May 02, 2011 3:23 am

Since kitesurfers like it small and portable an TRX looks good and inexpensive.
I wonder if an experienced Trainer has put together an workout specific for our sport, to keep us fit through the low wind weekends season.
At my advanced age I really dont like any other sport, spend 1 or 2 weeks waiting for the oportunity to sail, then sail like mad 2 or 3 days... It has taken an toll on my body... Now I REALLY have to do something... And the motivation is that I will be able to sail all day when it blows... or not get showlder injuries that frequently haunt me, sorry for the english.

I have and I love it.
Sometime ago I found a workout plan for surfers/kiteboarders on the internet and it´s was quite similar to the workout plans that they distributed with the product....so just follow their plans (that´s what I do) and you will be in perfect shape during the windless periods.

I have been using the TRX for about 18 months, started when I was in Africa and didn't have access to any fitness facitlities for six months. This program is simply a great total body workout. Get the one that comes with the advanced training program designed for people already in shape. There are two workouts, one upper body oriented, one lower body oriented. They are both well rounded though and work the core really, really well.

The program will help prevent injuries from sports like kiteboarding because your core will be strong and your muscles will be balanced.

The program I'm talking about has 14 weeks in it, if you can do the last workout you are in killer shape. I've been a triathlete, raced elite level mountain bikes and done a ton of endurance sports and I continue to find it tough.

TRX is a good product for us but recently I've tried the crosscore war machine and it's AMAZING...best workout because it works the rotation of our body and we can also attach weights on it... I can't believe I found this pulley system...u guys should try it.

Looks interesting but seems expensive for what you get.

I'v found the rowing machine at the gym to be just the thing for pump cross training. :) We have a TRX setup at the Rexplex. I may have to check that out.

Thanks for those links :)
I used the second link and did the "3 easy step" version, did a couple sets only and can really feel it. I think it would be a great wind down routine after a long kiting session as well. Did it while watching tv. Can't beat the price as well :)

The crosscore war machine has a good quality....I really tought it was expensive but if u compare with TRX is not that bad for a much better product and we also can do many things that we can't with TRX...we can also attach weights on it.
I've used TRX and once i started using the war machine I can never go back.
With the war machine we work core and rotation all the time and they have that pin that we have to challenge ourselves when we pull the pin (that makes u work the 3 dimensions of ur body)...it's amazing specially for our type of sport...i'm very happy with my new toy...I can feel the difference of my body and my train already...
