1. Purchase some 1/4" longer stainless steel fin screws from a local hardware store (we do not supply these because they are different for almost every board manufacturer) and gather up all the items you will need. (Picture 1)

2. The camera seats into the mount housing and utilizes a spacer, and standard GoPro screw. (Picture 2, Picture 3).

3. Set the mount over top of the fin box holes with the GoPro HD Surf Hero leash over one of the holes and attach the mount with your 1/4" longer screws with the fin below the deck. (Picture 4)

4. Tighten down the GoPro with the supplied screw and spacer between the housing attachment point. (Picture 5)

The new mount is available only at retailers until the 6/30/2011 then released globally. Just visit our kitehero dot com / store-locator page or refer your local shop via our contact form.

looks sweet. can you show a video of how the angle of the cam looks like this?

And, are the fin holes on board all at the same distance from each other?

toby, I have yet to come across a kiteboard with a bolt pattern that is different than 1.5" spacing.
This is one of those "industry standards" that seem to work on all kiteboards. You will notice different screw sizes between manufacturers however the fin mount was designed to accomadate the largest fin screw (1/4") and will work with smaller ones but you will want to use a flat washer under the screw if the screw head is small. Some screw heads, like the liquid force screws, are smaller so a washer resolves this problem.

This fin mount is the toughest gopro mount out there IMO.
Jim went out of his way to build this thing to withstand impacts and protect the camera.
Here is a quick edit of todays riding in Seattle...man that felt good! 8)

Here's another sample....I tested the a proto mount for Stringy about 4 months ago...great product.
Stringy or Ryan...was the angle of the mount changed from the proto I used or were any of the other videos shown on this thread edited to adjust? R4 refers to the GoPro seting

steve,
I tried to maintain as much through the development of the mount prototypes to the final production design.
Angle is virtually the same, but depending on your board's nose rocker, this could affect angle of perspective. Not an issue though because the camera captures quite a bit in this configuration.
There are some changes due to manufacturing issues, but overall this mount is how I wanted it to be.
with the production mounts being made of glass filled nylon, the likelihood of failure is going to be extremely low on this mount system.
Here is an uncropped image from using the new fin mount I took last week.

Jim. Can't wait to get this mount. Can you let me in on your editing secrets to get the photo to come out like that? Looks like its overcast, which from my experience produces the best photos with the gopro. Feel free to PM. :)
