Russians have passed Bering strait on kites

Two Russians - the quadruple champion of Russia on kiteboarding Evgenie Novozheev (Moscow) and Konstantin Aksenov (St.-Petersburg) - have crossed on kites Bering strait. Till now it was not possible to make to any sportsman the world!

According to Andrey Sorokin, for whose command Vivax Sport Evgenie Novozheev many years act, it is the first gone right attempt to overcome passage (96 km. - a comment "Sport-Express") on a board behind a kite. Complexity not only that water temperature there all plus one. The main thing - a current there such, that easily takes down a boat with the motor in 90 horsepowers!

This achievement some years tried to establish French riders, however to subdue severe northern waters it it was not possible. Now kiters are on Alaska. After returning to Russia they will necessarily tell "Sport-Express" about how all occurred. And one more important point. Since 2016 kiteboarding it will be presented on Olympic games. Means, foreign райдерам on whom it will be equaled. (Natasha Poletaeva)

Nice.
First transcontinental crossing I don't think. I would imagine someone to already have crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco or vice versa. Only about 15 km wide at the narrowest point.

Well go to Istanbul, cross the Bosphorus Strait and you experience Europe and Asia.

So it would not be an accomplishement unless you count ship traffic on strait.

But different thing is has somebody done that?

On July, 1st two Russians became the first kiters on a planet to which managed to cross Bering strait. Bering strait is located between continents Eurasias and America. This passage connects Arctic ocean to Pacific ocean. The passage in length in the bottleneck has of 96 km width in 86 km.

Evgenie Novozheev, Jackson (Moscow) - the quadruple champion of Russia on kiteboarding and the instructor on kitesurfing Konstantin Aksyonov, Karlito (St.-Petersburg) the first have overcome water space from Eurasia to America. Water space in length of 98 km riders have passed for 7 hours. Temperature of air +5, waters of +1 degree on Celsius. The most part of a way sportsmen were without the accompanying ship

Jackson and Karlito have established at once three records which will be brought in The Guinness Book of Records:

- The first crossing of Bering strait on kite
- For the first time the water space from Eurasia to America on kite is overcome
- The first crossing of the international line of demarcation of daily time on kite

Russia spent the sportsmen, having put in pasport the exit visa... America met kiters as heroes. Now Guys come back home, where on July, 14th will give press conference
