Wainman Blunt II 130 or 135?

Postby mr moon » Wed Jul 06, 2011 1:04 pm

Hi folks,
I'm making my mind up on a Blunt II for choppy days and freeride / airs...
I'm 85Kg / 13.5 stones I've been advised on the 135, do you reckon can I use it on powered up biG days or is it going to be too much?
The only down side I think is the very low visibility on the water on bottom side of the board and I've heard that people lose them!
Thanks!

i'm 95 kgs, and use the Blunt II 135 whenever i can, from 20 mph to 40+. it is NEVER too much board, but under 20, it is too little board for me. i wouldn't trade it for anything, and think the 130 may be just a tad small for you.

I'm 93kg and I ride a 131x40 board and love it. I usually ride in 9m weather 18+ kts. I used to own a 135x42 that had been recommended to me by everyone because of my weight, however I find wide boards like that very hard to keep an edge when trying to hold down power and quite bouncy in choppy water. Dude, you really have to try them to know what you will like. If not the actual boards, then at least try the sizes. For me I've learnt that I don't like wide boards, which will help me with my next choice. All the best!

It sounds like I should go with the 135, I wish I could try one maybe at 30+ kn! Anyhow I generally don't ride small boards, I'd rather have smaller kites instead...

while i find the blunt rides a little longer than its size the joke definately feels shorter.

just for reference: winki a wainman teamrider who is about 82 kilos rode the blunt 13 (1st gen) and is now on the joke 138....

the 1st generation blunts were way stiffer though, the 2nd gen is softer and easier to handle in higher winds.

Yeah going for the 135... I have to say I would have probably considered the joke but it's sooooooo ugly that I can't even look at it!

Phil do you know when the new kite range will be released?

Thanks guys! :thumb:
