Flysurfer Unity

Postby Hei » Sat Jul 09, 2011 10:14 pm

Does anyone here actually have one of those? I have had one on order now for quite a while. Was expecting to see it early June and later early July. So far I have not seen anyone post anything about actually having one in their hands. I find this somewhat disappointing - having enjoyed very good customer service from Flysurfer in the past. Did they release before being ready?

Apparently this information is incorrect. I got word from my Flysurfer dealer today that most likely I will not see my 12 M deluxe Unity until September. There is a production problem with the bars that they are not able to resolve. Very disappointing and unlike Flysurfer that has in my mind always been very professional and service oriented.

i got 10s and 12s in our stock.
the 10s and 12s deluxe are sold out allready... just one 12 normal fabric left.
i was in the first one to order some stock... thats why i got the stock.
unfortunatly they have a problem with the bar as you mentioned.
if you have preordered/ordered your kite, i quess you will be in the next shippment...
if you want a 12 in normal fabric then i could sell you this one... if you are interested pm me.

Can someone please describe the difference between the normal and deluxe versions? I'm assuming deluxe is lighter, but is is weaker as well? Stronger maybe? And the price differential?

I've actually seen this covered in some detail in previous posts. I don't recall all the specifics, but I would assume that the difference would be the same as with any other Flysurfer kite. With the Deluxe fabric, you get a lighter kite. Its a little snappier in the air, floats a little better, and turns a little quicker. Granted, the smaller the kite, the less of a difference you can see in those features. I've heard some people say that the 12m is the size where you can still tell the difference, but it isnt as noticeable as anything larger (I have a 12m S3 in non-deluxe and love it).

If you are trying to use the 12m as your light-wind kite, then getting it in deluxe makes sense. Otherwise.. maybe not so much...

I finally received a Unity 12 this week and had an opportunity to try it out yesterday: Flysurfer - you have done it again! This kite is in it´s own and totally different way fantastic! Super easy to fly and so forgiving. Much to my surprize , jumps are even easier than on my Speed 3 DL 15 (probably due to my limited skill level) and the Unity is just pure joy to ride. Very light but accurate and readable bar pressure plus being very stable .There are certainly faster, more hardcore and aggressive kites out there, but for someone like me - being an beginner/intermediate rider the Unity is a fantastic kite.
I have, like many a reader of this forum been following this now getting to be ridiculous debate between LEI and Foil fans. Well - I ride both and have fun all of the time !
