You mean like too complex or too strong?
I don't see any advantage over the original one
unless the swivel was causing problems ... mine has been flawless

It just looks like there is a lot of moving parts, plastic and generally things to go wrong on the bar. I prefer simple and clean. It looks nice but what will lots of sand and salt do to it? Just wondering. Grip looks really nice.

Yeah simple and clean. That's how a bar should be. This one seems too complicated. I bar needing such a thick manual is too much...
And it sounds like the 2011 IDS didn't work right, from what he is saying about it...
That's one reason why I would never go for a cab kite...

It sounds like the previous powerline tube was a bit tight on the IDS line.
The plus point is that they have a swivel at the chickenloop.
It looks like the rotating collar that you leash to is for people who unhook, and if you dont unhook, you rely on the chickenloop staying on your spreader bar hook as in previous years? Although you could also leash to the collar if you wanted to.
The rebuild looks complicated to do, but if you have released the kite, you wont be doing it out on the water.
Reattaching Q/R 1 on the water you might do, and it looks a bit fiddly getting the line out of the way. I normally wouldn't operate Q/R 1 unless its an emergency and usually just pull the powerline down until I get to the front lines, so its not an issue to me.
The bar is an improvement and has better winder recesses too, but the same results could be got with a simpler design IMO. I would be interested on upgrading my 09 bars, and this bar has the features I want. I'll be waiting to see what the buyers think of it and the price.

All the sessions I've had at our lake beach so far, with all the Cab users - I've never seen anyone use the IDS as a safety or even to self land
it works fine when I test it tho.
Seems to me it's improvements for improvements sake. Although I am paranoid about the swivel.

Hey,
My first thougt would be to have an independent second (last chance release). What could go wrong with the first QR? Would that keep you from pulling the QR2?
You will probably never need to release QR2; however, it needs to be fool proof for the 1 guy that does.

When one takes all the nOOB gear of that bar, it will be pretty simple and clean.. No IDS line, no chikenfinger, just a nice suicide leash point that can rotate, and spinning frontlines..
Only problem i can see, is if it dosent selfcenter when you unhook.

I got around 7 sessions with this bar and its in my opinion perfect.
The spinning leash keeps it superclean. It still keeps the bar close to the body and the swivel works flawlessly. There is a "selfcenter" feature that makes the main QR body center well but since there is a swivel underneath its dependent on where you grab on the QR to hook in again.. but I experienced no issues with it at all..
Less is more and even if this look like alot, try it out and experience that it works really good..
I also read somewhere that this has the french kind of certification thats really difficult to get to make sure it works under all circumstances.. There is probably someone on here that knows more about this than me....
Anyhow, I havent released the kite or tried to mount it again in the water, but with the depower abilities of modern kites i havent released in like, 5-6 years..
All in all a great upgrade and one that makes life on the water even better!
