Parks low end?

Postby rightguard » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:48 am

So I need to replace my 2008 Naish Cult... Always liked the kite but want something with less bar pressure.

I want to know if a 2011 Park 11 would have similar low end to my old 10.5 Cult.

Want to buy a new kite but don't want to loose power. Thanks for any knowledge...

Oops I guess I would be going from a 10.5 cult to a 10 park... Seems like a drop in power?

Well the 2012 comes out in a 11 :-)

It might be a little drop in power, but not much IMO. I have not ridden them side by side tho. I'd tell you thins much, the Park is a lot more fun to ride.

I'm curious to try the 2011 and 2012 Parks side by side to see how the power compares.

Not long now :thumb: :thumb:

I'm in the same position - currently flying 9m and 12m 2008 Cults, which have been great kites, but am looking to upgrade.

I demo'd the 2011 Park (8 and 10m) and liked just about everything about it. However, it did seem to lack a bit of low end power in my hands.

Would love to hear whether this has been improved in the 2012s.

So far I think it has. It felt more springy too, so I guess a little more aggressiveness. :-)

The times I have ridden the new ones, I have not done a side by side, but I am definitely ordering a new 10 so once the wind is back here I can do a side by side for sure.

There are so many used 2011 parks here on Maui... Thought it would be a fun upgrade, but sounds like I would loose some power. I think You have said before that you didn't really like the 12?

Me? No I liked the 12. I think the whole range I have tried is good. Why don't you talk with the guys at the pro center? Can't they hook you up with a demo?

A 10 Park will obviously have less power than a 12 Cult. I think it is super important to have the right wind when demoing...but often demos are done when the kites are there, not because it is the right kite / wind. In any case, in terms of performance, the Bolt is closer to the Cult, and I am guessing also a super good kite for Maui. :-)

Yeah, my main kite is a 8m Bolt... I just need a light wind kite and there are a lot of used 2011 Parks for sale. I'll just have to try some out and see if I like them.

Went from a 2010 10.5m Cult to 2011 10m Park. Maybe lost a bit of lower end, but Park made up for it in turning speed to generate apparent wind to get going in light wind conditions.
