4 years kiting and I have never seen a kite more "efficient" than another. If one kite is down (lack of wind), then all other kites are down. As soon as there is a little gust, everyone is up and riding at the same time.

Top-end of the kite and gust absorption is very subjective so really can't put a number on a top-end for the kite.

Their 1st gen bar is not very good, mainly because their safety (flag on 1 center line) is not streamlined. 2nd gen rabbit bar has a new system but not sure how it performs in real world.

I love my rabbit 9m a lot though, because of the graphics and also no one-pump for easy and predictable repairs.

I used to have a Smoke 9m and a Boss 12m, coupled with the Blunt 130. I weight around 84 kilos and am an intermediate rider.
What i can tell you is that i found the Smoke to have an incredible wind range: i have basically used it 95% of my rides, i would say from something around 16 up to 30, and some more knots in gusts. Always loved the kite. Consider that it has three knots on the kite to attach back lines pending on wind strength, so you do have to go back to beach for major setting changes.
The funny thing is that on the conntrary i found the low end of the Boss absolutely not so distant from what i could do with the Smoke, while the top end was obviously much less.
Net in net, i've loved my Smoke more than any other kite i've ever tried, while overall i was rather disappointed with the Boss.
Safety on first gen to me was insufficient, and so is the absence of a movable stopper ball on the depower. By the way i think the stopper ball hasn't been fixed with the new gen either.

On a side not, the Blunt is the best board i've ever ridden (i'm an old school free rider).

Don't have anymore these kites as they were stolen....

As most people have already said the Smokes windrange is impressive to say the least and where my old 12 mtr kites used to be my bread and butter kite now the Smoke is, I use it from 14 kts ish up to 25 kts then jump on the 7 mtr Gypsy which also has a huge range.

In fact the other week the UK got hit by the tail end of one of the hurricanes i forget which one, one of the non local asked me if i only had one kite as on saturday I was out on the Gypsy in 20 kts and the next day it went mad wind wise and i was on it again 30 to 40 kts. great kite.

As for teh new 10.5 Punch no one knows as it's not out until the end of the month but if the Smoke is anything to go by I am hoping it also has a huge usable range.

Don't forget you can also sqeeze a few more knots out of them by putting the bridle on the upwind setting, this also increases vertical lift and bar pressure.

So at roughly 185lbs with a 134 TT I'd think your wind range should be:

5m: 35mph-?
6.25m:30mph-?
7.5m:25?
9m:22mph-?
10.5m:18?

Can anyone else confirm these numbers?

I haven't flown the 7.5m or 10.5m yet so I can't say. But I'm confident that the low end guesses are pretty close on the other sizes. Now, on the other hand, the high end is up to you. These kites have a lot of range if you want them to.
Me personally, I don't even bother going from the "light wind" setting to "med or high wind". I know that if I have to depower the kite about half way, I can go to the next size down. I'd rather be on a 7m powered up than lit on a 9m.
