Well since you all try to avoid the subject that she´s not that good a kiter, which sq225917 was claiming - I can only assume that we agree.

Typically a Pro gets paid, a sponsored rider might only get gear+ some other benefits, media kit money, travel expenses.

It all depends

Compared to who? Hadlow, Lenten, Zoon..? You do realise that there are physical differences between girls and boys, don't you?
Megabear wrote:only problem is she doesnt know how to kitesurf, luckily, all the other stuff is way more important!
Her book's great, and by all accounts her girls coaching tour has been a success too. She's had more of an impact on grass roots kiters than most of the pretty boys you'll see in your kite DVDs. Saying that she doesn't know how to kite is like saying that Alex Ferguson doesn't know anything about football (Sunday's hilarious United/City result notwithstanding) because he doesn't play in the Premiere League.

Does she help sell kites? Well, she doesn't make me want to go out and buy Best, but sq225917 seems to think she's worth sponsoring. Why else would you spend money on a toned European chick who's appeared in Playboy?

megabear, if you don't like her, or think she's not valid because she doesn't rock the PKRA top three, fair enough. But you'll just have to take my word on this, she does more for the sport than any other rider, in the industry. That's why we are happy to support her.

I also think she does more than any kiter, male or female.
If you think someone else did more, please post with what the rider did...would be interesting!
Consider titles, media, social projects, events, the sport in general (like the KSP tour!)

SQ: no idea how much you pay her, but I hope it is fair!

Sure it's not as much as a true international kiteboarding superstar such as 'you' might make, but it's right up there. ;-)

Pro riders and even sponsored riders help bring a "point of focus" to the brand. The brand becomes a bit more personal and real because there's a good rider riding it who is recognizable and fun to watch. Will a pro make me buy a kite? No, but it will make me consider the brand and have a human mnemonic for it. That's a good thing.

I find it interesting that pros and sponsored riders can be excellent representatives because of skill and/or personality. Some got both. Friendliness is important. A pro or sponsored rider gives a face and personality to the brand. That's a good thing.
