I always detach the bar and lines. I also did when I used foils.

The main reasons:
- it is easier to handle the kite for packing, cleaning and maintenance.
- it is easier to handle the bar for packing, cleaning and maintenance (and I wash the bar and lines after most sessions.
- it is easier to walk to/from the beach flying the kite, upside down from the bridles, with the bar safely out of the way in my other hand.
- when packed the bar is away from the kite.
- I avoid excessive knotting, twisting and abrasion on the line ends which most definitely does weaken the lines.
- simplicity is always best. Wind out the lines. Attach them. Check them. Go kite. I always get out quicker than guys who use tricky methods. I always kite longer than other guys.

I parapack my foils on handles - works for me, not others!

With my LEIs, when I pack up I attach the two LH or RH lines to each other - seems to eliminate 90% of the tangles I got at the end of the lines!

100%, I always do this but still detach the bar/lines so i can rinse, what is 3 mins if it's making my kit last longer and safer

Unplugging toaster and coffee maker every time you leave the house ...Taking the leash off your surfboard every time you come out of the water..Removing the laces from your shoes every time you come home..It really does not take that long..WHY BUT WHY :?: :?: :allbegood:

I would say a better analogy might be

1) not untying your shoes every time you take your shoes off.
2) unplugging your toaster/coffee maker after using them to save electricty
3) leaving your manual garage door open so you dont have to open it before leaving the house
4) taking your kite out of your car instead of putting it in the garage each time

There are pros and cons to each of the above things, but I dont think it is obviously in favor of one way or the other.

ONE Con :
Generally my shoes "always" stay on the foot, so i don't
see much need in untying them !

I always leave my lines attached. Just a little practice on the packdown and you never have a tangle. Much better than try not to switch line if you roll out every time new. I do that for years now. If you have the bars I would always recommend that. G
