You have a hand full of companies that you can ship your kites or boards such as USPOST, FED EX, UPS, DHL, AIRPORT CARGO, and third parties. Now they all vary because some of them have no tracking numbers and also don't have insurance but you pay less. Some others are more expensive but if something happens you are cover. Or use some one you know who has an account with FED EX, DHL or UPS so you can get their discount. Or even better if you are looking to buy a kite check if any dealers ship kites for free. You can always go to EPICKITES.COM and order online. They do FREE SHIPPING world wide on any kites but for a limited time only.

P.S. Also when you are ready to ship a kite make sure to buy one of these vacuum air seal bags so you can decrease the thickness of the kite, this helps a lot when shipping with some of these companies. This is what I use when I travel world wide and when I ship my kites to places so I don't have to pay the airlines for my extra kites.

Are you guys for real? The guy wants to ship kites.

How does that translate into "buy our kites, we'll ship for free"?

USPS has tracking, but it is not as advanced as FedEx and UPS. International shipping, it will track to the border, but no longer, but if you know recipient country, they probably have tracking too.

Just add signature required. I think it 50 cents...there will be a number on it, which online tells you when the package was signed for. Also, if you print your own label, you can give the package to your mail person. I think it will be cheaper to print too.

USPS tracking works internationally ... if the seller emails you the tracking number (and gmail automatically pulls it out so all you have to do is click the link) then you get reports like this :

Delivered to local post office in the US on DATE/TIME.
Sent to a big US airport on DATE/TIME.
Arrived at a big US airport on DATE/TIME.
Left the US on DATE/TIME.
Arrived in Japan on DATE/TIME.
Entered Customs in Japan on DATE/TIME.
Exited Customs in Japan on DATE/TIME.
Arrived at local post office in Japan on DATE/TIME.
Attempted delivery
but you weren't home cos it was 10am and of course you're at work duh.
(Call 'em up after work)
Item delivered on DATE/TIME.

Exactly the same as UPS except ... much cheaper
I dunno how you'd want it any more advanced.

Considering the package can be insured too for a few bucks extra, the only difference I can see in UPS/FedEx and the USPS is that you actually have to drag your ass out of your office or off the sofa - and down to the post office ...

What I learned about saving money when shipping kites in the US.
(Hawaii may have different issues).

Register at FedEx, they give a nice discount.

Ship Fedex ground to a business address, instead of Fedex Home

Keep your all you box dimensions less than 20" or whatever the magic total number is.

Don't let your box grow from Oversize1 to Oversize2.

More size will cost more than more weight. Pack it small.
