slingshot rally 2012 - need opinions

Postby alsoares » Sun Dec 04, 2011 4:54 pm

Hi guys, yesterday I had the opportunity to test a rally 12, size 12, and enjoyed it. I have a waroo 13 2008, and like it a lot, but now it is approaching time to renew my quiver. Unfortunately the 2008/2009 waroo generation has been discontinued, and could see there are no more bularoos as well. So, in my search for a kite that could deliver a good hangtime and with an excelent power locker, I tested the rally 2012 yesterday, in 20 to 25 knots, and really liked it. But, as nothing is perfect, I found the chicken loop system to be more complex than the Best one. When my waroo power line tears, I just need to replace the power line but not the chicken loop. So, I'd like to ask, how about the rally system, does it work in the same way? should the power line breaks, do I need to replace the chicken loop also, or there is a way to replace only the power line?

No you don't have to replace the chicken loop, just the depower rope which any Slingshot dealer will have or can order.
Good fun kite too...the Rally.

I'm very happy with my 6/10/14 quiver. I actually like the 10, 12, 14 sizes best and they have superb high ends. I bought the 6 as my small kite, but probably would have been fine with 8 due to how well they depower. I find the 6 flies far forward in the window on transitions, but they're all fun, stable, very well constructed kites.

With regards to your CL line on any kite, spray it occasionally with Sail Kote or Slinshot's Dri-Lube and you will find it not wearing on you as fast.

Stoked on my 2012 14m Rally. For me (215lbs), I'm out and upwind around 13mph, and plenty powered and having fun at 15mph. The kite turns fast and doesn't feel like a pig in the sky.

-in summary, the 14m kicks ass. :jump:

Also stoked on the 2012 10m Rally. The perfect middle kite for me (215lbs). I can get off my 14m early (17-18 mph) if i expect the wind to pick up, but am fine if it doesn't. I choose to ride the 10m until 30mph, but like all the Rallys, its range can go much higher if i needed it to.

-in summary, the 10m kicks ass too. :thumb:

Picked up a 2012 8m to be my kite for 30mph and up. Have not been on it yet but i expect it to kick ass also. Will let you all know how it goes next time we have a nor'easter nuke session.
