Always lines "on" on all your kites ??

Postby SupaEZ » Sun May 20, 2012 2:59 pm

Same system works for me for the past 13 years
Right now 6 tube kites......19/17/12/10/8/6......zero removal of lines EVER

My motto: If you can "afford :cash: to kite" you can afford complete set ups

But that's just me........maybe :party1: :surf: :sun: ..................................

Hey supa, do you mind describing how you land, deflate, and pack down your tube kites with the lines attached? Sounds like a great idea, but not sure how you get it done quickly. Thanks!

I started leaving my lines attached for snowkiting.
It is so much work to run out the lines in the powder.
I always try to inflate the kite on a hill,
then just unwind the lines as I slide down the hill on my board,
that way I don't have to post hole through the powder.

After maybe 4-5 years of leaving lines attached to kites.
I only have about 1% tangle rate now.
and unless I go through a bridle line somehow,
it is very easy to "wrap" the bar around to untangle.

I'm going to Maui soon and taking 1 bar for a 10M and 12M combo.
Sure hope I remember how to attach lines on the beach, ha.
Better yet, I hope I won't even need the larger kites.

May I suggest this method, It has severed me well over the years...

Leaving your lines on is fine, but one still needs to inspect the pig tail knots, such things (failure points) are every bit as important as having the lines on right...

Newbs are the most unlikely to have multiple bars, and rigging is by far the most important first step to any session...

With this in mind I'd hope they might give my system a try...

Yes.... but this concept "maybe new" and foreign to most tube kiters
We could almost say the tubes kite companies are a little bit to blame
(since they offer to buy the kite only and kite/line/bar are not generally sold attached as an unit)

Foil kiters are trained from the very beginning on how to leave lines "on"
(since the kite+lines+bar are attached when sold to the customer as one unit)

If there is one thing we can learn from "foilers" is the convenience to have lines on kites at all times

I surely spent 1/3 of my time kiting (13 years )on foils...and i only speak from my experiences....
..but in 2012 the LW tubes have become soooooo good......that foils are now in my past :bye2:

:thanx: Toby for your always appreciated input.............. :surf: :sun: .....................
