August where for kite and surf

Postby Madalì » Sat May 26, 2012 5:50 pm

Hi guys
I have 3/4 weeks in august I would like to go in a good spot for kite (better if flat and with some nice waves kicker 8) ) and also for surf. I am not an expert surfer so no need big waves or radical spot just for fun and progress.

Bali? good for surf but for kite?
South Brasil?
Srilanka?
everywhere...

Any suggest are welcome.
thank a lot.

North east of Brazil has great wind conditions in August and loads of spots with flatwater and waves. Paracuru, where i live, has a natural sea lagoon at low tide. Great for flat water freestyle and small to medium waves (1-2 meter) at high tide.
For normal wave surfing there is a great little spot here at the local beach of Paracuru. Waves are not too big but great for progressing. They dont break too far out so you dont have to paddle for ages. Just got to watch out for the rocks on the (riders) left hand side but the locals will show you where they are.
Any other questions about Paracuru or nearby spots just ask or check out http://locations.splocs.com/kitesurf/loc/paracuru.html

Enjoy where ever you end up surfing & kiting! :thumb:

Mauritius is a fantastic destination for kite and surf but local surfers are a pain (maybe the worse I have seen so far). It was a few years ago maybe it has changed a bit.

Yep there are a bunch of locals that push localism way over any reasonable behavior.
Then again it is a small bunch and there are many waves. Plus when on holiday you have lots of time whereas the locals are limited by working constraints.

Tarifa for kiting in summer time? YES!
We made 3 weeks Kitesurfing Holiday in Tarifa and have booked Kite lessons and rent Kite Equipment with Rebels kitesurfing school and that was the right decision! The organization was great! On the contact followed flowing Mail. This created a perfect book and a clear and wonderful realization of our desires for the entire stay.
After our Kite sessions , Rebels team, took us every night our and present us Tarifa from the different side. Party party party!! Tomatito ( a Must from Tarifa), Moscito (disco with latino music), Vaca Loca ( great steaks from Argentina), La Pescaderia (great restaurant for Fish food lovers), La Cueva ( Hamburger and Mojito specialist), Café del Mar (Parties till sun rise)…
What else is to find in Tarifa?
Windsufing, surfing, Whale watching, Gibraltar (need travel document), climbing, horse riding on the beach, diving, down hill biking…
Summary: I can Tarifa for kite surfing, relaxing and parties highly recommend !

Tarifa für kitten in Sommer? JA!

- Mauritius seems a good destination for both kite and surf, but seem also for just good level surfers...
- Tarifa is super for kite and the night but not for surf
- Never hear about surf in Paracuru

Some one never been to Bali in august?

I've been to Bali in late July years ago with the intent to surf the waves (no kite). I can't recall there was any significant wind. And as much as I'm researching for best windy wave spot... Bali just doesn't seem to pop up on the list with winds for kites smaller than 12m. Just sayin'.
