Just wondering, i have often thought whilst sitting there waiting for my kite to launch, feet in the straps, board in front resisting the pull of the kite, but noticed the lines rubbing across the boards edge, and thought, this could either cut or weaken my lines, has it ever happed to you, have you cut through your lines or am i doing something other people dont

Maybe you should keep your board a bit underwater while working on your relaunch so the lines will not rub or - worse - get tangled around it

I'm sure if the material is hacked up a bit, it could take some nicks out of the line and weaken it - dunno if it'd cut it out-right.
Had splinters in my fingers from gnarly edges... run a bit of glass-paper over them now to tidy them up if they're too bad.

Yes, happend once during a deadman where my sharp rail cut my powerline just above the trip-strap. This was on a Shift bar where the centre line is within reach of your board. After that I put longer leader lines on the power and stearing lines to prevent a second mid-air snap.
This was on tensioned lines. Lines without tension are far more difficult to damage.

Longer leaders and longer "floaties" can prevent and solve a lot of problems. .. nicer to grab than kite lines, less likely to "cling" and easier to spot and unwrap tangles, less likely to be cut, etc...

IF you are worried about your board cutting your lines... well you should really be worried about
the board cutting you or someone else.

Some excellent ideas thanks, and yeah I've had a few cuts myself, might have to get some fine sandpaper on the edges

YEA-- i keep some 400-grit wet/dry sand-paper with me for just that reason.
Wrap it around something flat and to get rid of ruff spots on the rails when sanding.
When you get home, use 1,000 grit wet/dry first, then use rubbing compound
to bring back the shine on your board.

Well I got my board cut by my lines : ).
Serious backside off the lip and one line got caught in this little ding near the nose of my board and cut it right off. Recovered it as it was floating around and stuck it to the wall in my w shop.
