That's the main reason why they chose racing for Rio, and not freestyle, isn't it?

But super light wind is going to be a problem for every sailing class...

Not just the speed, but the constantly shifting direction... Ouch!

Definitely. I think there's an expectation as well that the equipment will increase in performance so that by then, top racers will be able to handle low wind better... Isn't that why we're going 'box rule' and not 'one design'?

we have been informed that the International RS:X Class Association Ltd is taking legal action against the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), based on the fact that ISAF has selected Kiteboarding and not Windsurfing as Olympic sailing event for the Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

We feel shocked that an international class, being bound by ISAF constitution, rules and regulations, is even considering legal action against the world governing body because of a decision that has been taken in a democratic process and in full accordance with the defined decision making processes of ISAF .

Initiating legal action in the middle of the Olympic Games might damage not only the performance of the affected sailors but also the reputation of sailing in general.

The International Kiteboarding Association is fully aware of the ongoing discussions about Olympic Events and Equipment and is respecting ISAFs internal processes.

And doesn't kick this out windsurfing for ever?

NO
:angryfire:

We all , kite surfers , have to thank a manufacturer Monopolist and his products
After taking a legal action against ISAF ,
Neil Pryde has been rewarded with the restoration of the Olympic status

so I wonder how Neil Pryde that owns Cabrinha actually argue that one should be in and the other one go? How should kiteboarders react to this?

I regardless of liking the olympics or not you have to agree that it seems we are getting screwed by one of owners of a kiteboarding company...

I think sometimes you have to make choices.
The RS:X owner made his , I do mine.

Rio would have been kick ass kite racing, all they needed was 8-10 mph, I see racers all the time just killing it at Crissy field, home of the Cabrinha/St Francis YT Club thursday night race series, and this years North American kite racing championship. :jump:

Those windsurfers will be slogging and pumping around the race course. :cool2:

Neil Pryde's point of view as seen online in a video interview implied that smaller contries already had a sizable investment in youth sailing with windsurfing, bla bla bla etc etc etc. :argue:
