Looking at possibly heading to N.E.Brazil in September but after issues trying to use cards last time there plus the notorious cash machines (petrol station etc) was wondering if it's any easier there now...also up as far as Jeri?

There is an ATM at a bakery in cumbuco village now.
I doubt there can be frauds, since it is right in front of the cashier

Bakery in Cumbuco had skim problems as well. So be carefull.
There is a bank with international atm in the center of Paracuru. The machines are inside the bank.

Ah, ok, sorry for that.
Best is to have two accounts, and then move money when you need so no one can take more after you took it.
These I know as well:
- Trairi (before Flexeiras)
- Paraipaba (before Lagoonha)
- Itarema (before Ilha do Guajiru)

on the road to Jericoacoara you will also pass Acarau ( 1x BB "Banco do Brasil" and 1x Bradesco) -- some km further there is at Cruz (1x Banco do Brasil) and finaly Jijica do Jericoacoara with (1x Banco do Brasil and 1x Bradesco). all international machines.
In Jeri you will find an exchange office at the main street and the coverage to pay with credit cards is close to 90%....
