Ok, i tried to carve rail to rail on the Nash sky Pirate and couldn't do it.
So i went home and diced 6 inches off the back of the board, and went back
to try again. Pushed a nice wall of water in both directions while the kite pulled
me on a broad-reach ; it was Fun till the stock strap bolt ripped out of the board !!
It was the surfboard that taught me to go tow-side a few months ago.

I was wishing i had learned the surfboard years ago ; started wishing that, right
after my first back-roll on a surfboard about two months ago. I Like the feel so much
i'm gonna dice another 2 inches of the Beast ; the straps are kinda of a Must for me though !

I don't wanna try a hydrofoil ---5 years from now--- and Wish i had started learning
5 years ago .

It took me several hours of effort to master riding my Carfino hydrofoil. But it is well worth it. Like taut, I now prefer my race board in light winds, but the hydrofoil is still fun and unusual. Once you are comfortable riding the hydrofoil, try it strapless. It is not difficult and I find it more fun than with straps.

Bille, for you it will be no problem, I am pretty sure of that.
The learning experience is great fun.
Make sure you use a solid board if you are adapting one to a foil. I snapped three boards before using a stock wakeboard and large stainless backing plates.
The one time I lost the blade and shaft in over thirty meters of water. Body dragged back to the beach, got snorkeling gear and recovered the blade rapidly (too expensive to loose) : )

What really separates good foils from bad is how easy they are to ride. It was easy for us to make a working foil, it was not so easy to make one that goes downwind as stable as it goes upwind. Also making one that is not so susceptible to spin outs when the wing comes out of the water took some experimentation.

I am pretty happy now with our current wings at Magma, but we are constantly trying to improve the design ...

Do you have pictures of your current design ? How is it different from
other foils ? A Link to your shop ? Is it a good beginner foil ?

I liked what Ya said about learning on a shorter pylon ; seams like
it would make the CG lower to the foil.

The Website is seriously out of date, but it shows the basic construction and Surf and Foil concept. We are way further along now in regards to profiles and Wing Shape. Also Manu has done no development work in a long time.

Basically the Foil has a Box that can be built into any surfboard that has at least 3cm Thickness where the box needs to go. This box is very strong and similar in look to a tuttle box. The great thing is that there is nothing protruding out of the board that can drag when you touch down on the water with the board. It is also super easy to plug up when you use the board without a foil.

Here are some pics. Does not show much and again it's not the newest wing and profile of the mast. I will see if I can make some pics of the new wing today at the beach if you want.


Also once again the Video which you probably have seen (this is almost 2 years old now). Here you can see how it fits together.
