Alaia Trick List

Last year I got an Alaia and it has been an awesome board in super light conditions as well as in nuking 6M conditions. Basically when I can't ride freestyle I ride my Alaia instead of a surfboard and have had so much fun.

Any other riders out there whom love their Alaia? What are some cool tricks to work on?

Which ones do you do. I think the one I like the best is a drawn out ducktack where keep on going in the direction while hovering right above the water...around and end with a kiteloop to change direction.

Yeah the drawn out duck tack is rad. I've been working on these:

- Sitting down on the board
- Nose ride one foot
- Pop to blind
- Ride blind then surface spin out
- Surface handle passes both ways (away from the kite and towards the kite)
- Ollie's with grab (these are tough)
- 360 Shuv It - on a tac spin the board 360 and then keep going in the same direction (for these it helps me to use a piece of chop so the board can get out of the water a bit; high failure rate though)

the only "trick" i've done on the alaia with a kite so far is to ride straight at an obstacle, then just do the alaia "lala" slide right to leeward of it.
Have also paddle surfed it though.
That qualifies as a trick imho, and also fun.

Thats awesome. Love those shuvvits too. And the nose riding but have not done any passes :)

BWD: PADDLING that board seems like magic to me. Good job.

Still haven;t popped on that board at all, but I rode some nice waves on it today. Killer fun. Not exactly solmething you come off the top hard with but still can throw a little mini spray. :-)

"paddling" maybe a stretch, for me so far it's equal parts swimming above it while trying to keep it coralled between your arms and legs. I am not claiming any expertise either!

lol, nah still impressive.

I saw a guy use it prone, super impressive to me. Very very fluid way of riding a wave.

I built my own alaia but I am very far from doing tricks. I am ashamed to say that I even added some front straps for easier waterstart. I really appreciate the low end/upwind and it feels fantastic in flat water, but it gets very tricky in chop and when I try to get through breaking waves since the nose is digging in.
