Headed to Boracay Nov 3 and baggage is full , maybe can only fit 2 kites . 7 & 9 or 9 & 11. Man , one of those kick yourself in the butt with the wrong choice . Wind Guru has readings all over the place. Your 2c's appreciated ....

Definitely go 9 and 11. I would rather have too much kite than not enough kite. With too much kite you can trim the power. With not enough kite you sit on the beach.
Oh yeah...I hate you.

I don't know your weight but either way I'd suggest the biggest sizes.
Been in Boracay a few times and a bigger kite is a more likely scenario.
Also you're going right before the strongest winds (Dec-Feb/March).

Funny - I was thinking about the same thing. Also have a 7.9.11. I was thinking of 7 and 11
Did you consider that?

It has to be the 9 becuase i can get the most wind range from it - 15 to 25. The 11 i usually only fly on steady winds up to 15-18 . But anything over 25 is where the fun starts and I would rather sit on the beach on a mild day rather than when it's nuking... I checked the 7 into a compression bag and its really small - I think i will try and stuff it in my knapsack and pack the other 2 kites in luggage - I wonder if airport security will let you on-board with something that looks like a parachute?

its a tropical 15 knots so a 9 wont cut it. I took a 9m and a 12m and used the 12m 85% of the time. I ride a fast tintip and my light wind riding technique is good, so If I could have eeked a little more power out of the 9m I would have. I will go back, but I will take a 10m and a 14m. I can hold down a 10m up to 23/24kts. Also the wind through the day is not consistent. It windy early morning and then drops off at about 10am. you might get a couple of times where it comes in briefly, then drops off. When I was there in the afternoons, 3pm onward, the wind really dropped off and the only people on the water were people flying 14+m kites and sometimes raceboards. There where times that I thought were 12m wind, but the wind being tropical is less dense and the 12m really couldn't do it.
You can rent and demo kites there, so dont worry too much if you have a nuclear day, just pony up and rent a 7m for the day. It would be cheaper than a day on the booze cause you cant kite!

88kg rider weight, pretty good at kiting in light wind. Spent a month there last year (Feb-March); brought a 7, 9 and 12m. Days I wished I had a 14 (or larger): 5 (give or take a day). Days I wished I had a smaller size than my 7: 0.

Your larger 2 option. I'm here already and winds have come early. Nov is warm still and lighter winds. Most stash thier gear at a station beach side and use facilities. The 2 to the Northmost end of the beach are best without naming names. They help with set up are lightning fast to catch your kite when you come in as the beach is v.small and trickey at high tide. Ive 12 and 8 and had the 8 out twice already but mostly crusin on the 12 (90kg rider).
