Yes very true...but also from my extensive LW experience with big kites in nearly no wind at surface

There is gradient..and there is the direction it is coming from...and the distance of fetch over water

From what i know in my environment ..S-SSW-SW light winds are the best for this

I have ridden with SP3 21...Dyno18...Riot19..in non perceivable winds...glass like water many times

In the open ocean on S wind.....and intracoastal on SSW-SW

When all elements come together....you get the perfect LW..

But sorry No video of myself to prove it....

3 knots average to the untrained eye

But those who know....you can draw your own conclusion...on what wind power pulls you...really!

.............:surf: :sun: .what i would like to see one day....are BS High wind claims battles on KF

kookfest wrote:"Pump Me Up" is correct. I'm privy to a lot of new kite testing. No kite will stay upwind under about 8 knots, regardless of the board. There is no kite in the world that will even fly in 2-4 knots. People sometimes get confused about kites because of the phenomenon of "gradient". The wind speed at 40ft can be completely different to the speed at ground level.
utter bullshit.

All I can say from my experience that I have problem flying my Speed 3 21m in 4 knots.
In 6 knots I can start, but I like steady 7 with my directional with my light weight comb.

Where are you Bill Hanson, are these low claims possible
and having enough pulling power to get on to plane :?:

At my beach there is 2-4 knots max NE wind flow (some will call this blowing)... at this moment

Not a gradient wind....from ground level to a 100 ft it is the same wind speed..that i can tell

If i still had my SP3 21....i know it would not even fly stationary unaided at all..or sining it..looping it

If i still had my Dyno 18...zero chance

If i took out my Riot 19...right now......zero chance..to fly it either

3kn average is soooo weak.....compared to 6 knots (4 times more power)..that IS still sooo weak

...........So much is always said about LW claims....that HW claims are getting jealous :thumb:

Sorry Mr D, but the peak has already been reached and you are still behind.
Here is a kite that stays in the air in NO wind at all, thats 200% better than your 2knots
