Well, this might not be what you want to hear. The worst was sprain I had..I took out my ankle playing sports. It was 3 weeks before I could walk on it...It did not get better, but we were mid season so I basically continued to play on it. It was swollen for over 6 months, before I finally told the team, manager. The team doctor didn't even look at it sent me directly to surgery. When I sprained it it crushed small pieces of bone off. So it had small bits of bone set in the ankle and I needed surgery.WildDuke wrote: It feels like after the last month and a bit, I'm back to square 1! Aghhhh! I'm beginning to not want to kite again EVER!

There is only one correct advice- jump into the next plane to Cairns and go to the hospital to get it checked.

Thanks for sharing your recovery story! Why the cold and then warm water? What is that meant to do?Westozzy wrote:Yep I have suffered from ankle pain from various tendons and ops etc for years.
Start of the season there it went again.
Here's what I did.
Took three anti inflammations, then two every 4 hours for three days, down to one every 4 hours for a day or two, then one per day for a week.
Each night and morning, one bucket full of ice and cold water, the other warm, not water with a kettle boiled next to it to keep topping up. 2minutes one side, 2 the other. 20 minutes in total, 10 each Side. Did that for two weeks alongside the treatment.
Wore a decent ankle brace every day for this two week period.
Got some orthodics, just the 59 buck ones from the chemist and some sandal/ thongs that have a heel etc built in. Didn't walk around d bare foot for two weeks.
Also have a ultrasound home thingy, 10 min on medium every night for these two weeks and one in the morning.
Fixed, then did 21 days kiting in a row...no probs.
Did flair up on the 22nd, cold, hot and ultrasound with ankle brace for a few days. Fixed.
Sounds insanely focussed but enough was enough.
Oh yeh, put a pillow under that ankle when you sleep. Helps to.
Ibuprofen is the miracle drug man, plus the other physical procedures all added up to no more ankle probs after years and years of putting up with it.
Good luck man.
Sorry to hear about this, feel your pain. I wrote to Westozzy on something similar he had, see the thread 'Posterior Tibial Tendonitis', have a look at it, but basically you need to have someone skilled look at it and treat it.WildDuke wrote: Then 2 nights ago, I went to sleep and woke up with an excruciating ankle that was swollen and I couldn't barely put weight on it. Today, was a little better, but I'm back on the crutches and the ibuprofen and ice to bring down the swelling.
Question? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?
