I picked up sea urchines and ruined a good pair of board shorts dragging in shallow water once.

He has perfected it!

Saw him last week body dragging past me in the supermarket car park.

Skillz!

Pretty weird thread.

I body drag upwind frequently to reach water deep enough to start my hydrofoil on a 72cm mast.

Dragging with your kneecaps bumping the urchins, and whatever else (and believe me, there is often "something else"), beats the hell out of trying to stomp through.

Both in terms of speed AND physical damage.

Sure, it looks foolish, but once you hit water that's deep enough, you can easily ride so long that all the haters will have long since packed it up and gone home by the time you return.

Seriously. Learn to body drag efficiently.

One spot I frequent is best on an incoming wind and outgoing tide.

It's very shallow, but if you crash the kite and stand up, the current will quickly push the kite straight at you with practically zero chance to relaunch.

Stay floating, and the current pushes you out against the wind so quickly that it's like relaunching in winds a few knots higher than what the wind really is...
