Have to go with my gf to Hvar in the end of July.
Is it any point in bringing my gear to this place. Cant find any good spots nearby.
I saw some forums about sailing tours with kiting / windsurfing, but cant find any scheduled trips.

Back then we were windsurfing in the channel between Ščedro and Hvar - village Zavala. Wind gets quite nice due to channel effect between 2 islands, but Im not sure how will be with starting the kite. Very small place. Ir you're experienced you can kite, but I think Hvar is not safe place, especially for beginners.
Best is to get to trip to Brač, you have Zlatni rat - Bol. Known location for kiting. Prepare for chop.

There is a kite center in Bol island brac near prassonissi beach. I kited there and it was fine.
Bol is also much nicer then Hvar.

Or maybe go a bit south, to Pelješac, village Viganj. It has a better thermal wind then Bol on Brač. Viganj also has a kite-center WaterDonkey and they can set you up with accomodation/transport/rescue. I was there in september 2012; very good service.

Croatians just raised ferry prices for all the routs for at least 20%, some cheaper ones for 100%!
Certainly one thing to look into, because the price could be third of your expences. Certainly a third I could go without, specialy since their islands are not any meka for anything (OK, maybe Pelješac)
Bol get's realy crowded in summer- swimers!
@webtrond: isn't Prassonissi beach on Rhodos, Greece?
Maybe it is better choise.
Have fun,

Sorry Prassonissi is in Rhodos!
I ment Zlatni Rat - The golden Horn.
Rhodos is way better for kiting but Croatia is better for vacation.

Last year I spent a week in Viganj and the previous year in Bol. I found Viganj much better, less crowded and cheaper as well. At Bol there is only one place to lauch the kite and the local kiteshop (yellowcat) will charge you for "using" their beach. They also have a rescue boat if needed.
Both places have thermal winds so you can ignore the wind forecast
Wind picks up around 11am and usually blows until late afternoon, but take a big kite / LW board combo if you can, I used my 15m2 foil almost every day. Around 2-3pm it usually reaches 5 Bft, steady sideshore.
