I recently purchased my 3rd Speed3 12m, (I am really addicted to your kite, but cant afford to lose a 3rd one). My 15m lasted extremely long (still have it) but the 12m ... (been unlucky with the first two)

Anyway, here are my questions:

1 - Could you guys produce the information sheet that is located at the beginning of the Speed 4 manual for the Speed 3? The main title of the page is expert tips / expertentipps.

I really like the simplicity and the drawings, it would be nice to see one for the Speed 3. (What happen to the profile when we change C level, B level) Exactly like the drawing on expertentipps that has been done for the Speed 4.

2 - So far, I have had bad luck with my first two Speed 3 12m at approximately 55-75 hours of flying, lost the kite to sea within 5-10 hours of replacing A & B Lines. Would it be safer to move the C Level ring 1 or 2 cm towards the kite the next time I change A & B lines? (Ill be honest with you, I am now scare to change these lines, that a sudden front stall / dead spiral will happen out of nowhere/non gusty condition and that I lost this kite to).

3 - On the inflatable side (for the future) do you guys think it would be possible to create an inflatable that has the same big air characteristics and floatation as the Speed3 or it would be physically impossible?

Any plans to some wave or skim or directional fun board (e.g. comparable to north nugget) (preferably with split option)?

What are the pros and cons between the split option of the nobile boards and your approach (more teeth in flysplit)

Which foil kites will get an update or will be abandoned (unity, psycho, viron)

What about a 13.5 Speed 4? Perfect size to combine with 8 and have a 2 kite range

Speed is the ultimate weapon in low wind (imo): it is very good in creating its own wind and has a huge wind window which makes it very easy to go upwind.
Does the Cronix have the same ability? Or does the deeper profile when you sheet in this kite makes it more grunty but with a smaller wind window and with less ability to create its own wind?
By "closing" the profil you make a kite that pulls you more downwind (or not?), but this does not mean more low-end ... or does it?

And last ... when/where will it be possible to demo this kite (I'm in France)?

Any good news on how to re-impregnate flysurfer speed 3 19m?

Generally, we do not recommend that you waterproof your canopy, because chemical substances can damage the coating, the cloth and the fibers of the cloth.
As of yet, we have not found a solution which we can recommend. Furthermore, we cannot offer the Flysurfer warranty on a kite which has been waterproofed after purchase.
If you would like to try to waterproof an older kite, naturally you can give it a try at your own risk.
Some customers have attempted a waterproofing. In any case, you can try it using this cleaning agent Mclube.com. We have also heard of the usual attempts similar to waterproofing outdoor jackets. Other customers have even gone so far as to spray their kites with clear varnish from a compressor and spray gun…
About kiterefit we have no proves, that it has a long term durability and worth the money. If you have long time experience, let us know.

Hey guys what's up...some questions


Alright....can you explain the different characteristics of the chronix with the trailing edge adjustments from a real kiters perspective, not the marketing blurb and can you relate this to actual riding experience? Can you really turn this baby from a higher aspect (well relatively at an AR of 5), jumping upwind machine, to a low grunty wave kite? What is lost in reality? Is the wake style setting compromised because of this?

What I am saying is, to claim to can have one kite that can compete with all specifically designed kites seems a little far fetched...but is it, can you really claim that by changing just the trailing edge it you can compensate for the overall geometry of the overall canopy?

Lets say the kite is set at neutral in half way all round land, what is the actual feel like through the bar. Does it develop its power though apparent wind, static grunt, all out power spike grunt or is it a combination of them all. If you are on a reach and you really pull in on the bar what happens with this kite? That will explain the above.

What will be it's forte you feel based on its overall profile shape?

Is it a kite you can stall? Is it sensitive to stalling?

Noticed in one of the video clips the wing tips seem to move a lot, flop around a bit, how does this work at the real high end of these kites. Does it become punchy? Do the wind tips fold in a little on a fast turn,the pyschos did and it annoyed me no end?

When you load up and really send it and pull the bar in have you looked up? What do you notice about the canopy? Does it fold open a little or keep its shape?

Have you tried the self launch near its upper wind range? Is it still useable for those conditions.

There is a demo landing in Western Australia Perth soon, so I will take your comments on board when demoing this kite. I'm secretly excited behind it, flew foils for years before settling on the edge.

First of all I have to say, that 90% of all testers so far prefered the default setup.
So you don’t have to adjust anything if you don’t want to. We spent really much time to find the best possible overall setup, and asked many testriders.
If you want it’s possible to move the kite characteristics a bit towards one criteria using the trim options:

In general there are 2 things you can adjust:
- Bar-Forces higher/lower:
moving attachment points; same as in many other kites, I think no further explanation needed.
- More camber /less camber:
More Camber:
+ Lift, Hangtime, Lowend
- higher barforces
Less Camber:
- less Lift, Hangtime: this can simplify for example handlepasses
+ lighter barforces

The Cronix works pretty well in waves because of it’s high turning speed, good depower, and stability, also when lines slack. But it still has good performance for jumps and lowend.
So the Cronix is positioned somewhere in the middle.

In the really specialized characteristics, some specialitzed kites may still be better:
I compared e.g. with a RRD Religion Wavekite: this one turns maybe still a bit faster than the Cronix. But the Cronix has way better jumping performance and more hangtime.
On the other end of the product range, really hangtime kites like Speed3/4, Ozone Edge or North Dyno still have more hangtime than a Cronix.
So the Cronix is between both extreme characteristics.

It’s possible, but in really strong winds >30knots it’s always safer to launch with an assistant.

Speed 3 Uneven Span Wise Bridle Shrinkage - should I be concerned?

As long as your kites flyes nicely, you can ignore it. The Mixer is the powerful tool, to compensate bridle shrinkage in general also for symmetric and asymmetric problems. See Manual for Details.
If that is not enough, you can compensate uneven bridles. The LCL at the canopy makes that very easy. Lineplans are online at flysurfer.com. You only need to take care about relative differences.
