Hej
Urgent question
Flying to Malta on Saturday and will stay for a week in Mellieha Holiday Centre in Mellieha Bay.
Any kite surfing possibilities? Flat or waves?
Should I bring my gear?
Can I rent gear?
Thanks !!

Hello,
yes it is possible.
When the wind is from east you can kite in mellieha bay (ghadira)
north wind Armir bay
north west wind white tower bay (this is the most common wind)
golden bay or gneina when there is west wind
everything is very close but you will need a car
be careful the places are narrow and rocky and sometimes the wind can be really gusty, not for beginners
have fun

Malta is very windy. November to June the wind is on average 25 knots .... Now for October the season has not really started yet. You might get a day or 2 in 1 week.
you can check here ->
http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=47196 its normally pretty accurate!

How deep it the water there?
Is it foilable or better only Twintip?

Hi,
Apologies for answering you so late.
In Malta the water goes deep very quickly.
Not sure if a foil could be a good idea since it will be difficult to start. It won't be possible to ha a long run downwind to gain speed.
A safer bet it will be a twintip, and also with a twintip it will be difficult to start in those small bays.
Enjoy

Thanks for your expertise!
So I take a big board instead of my foil.
I'm used to kiting on small spots!
