Exactly - that was my point !
If they are made more kite specific, great - but if they are priced somewhat higher, we might not want to like it, if they still wont last for long...
So the key here is lifetime, which (I think) is extremely difficult to extend.
The next thing is, IF you could get a REALLY expensive kitepump, you knew would last and work "always" - would you still be able to toss it on the beach while you are out - without worrying that it should be nicked ?
I still find the "lifetime" when exposed to extremely fine sand for hours and hours so many days per year, is the major problem and reason why expensive more refined pumps has a hard time surviving
