Turks and Caicos / North / Middle Caicos Wave spots

Postby vp » Thu Jan 02, 2014 9:15 pm

Looking for some info on kiting in the North or Middle Caicos.

These spots look amazing for waves:

Whitby in North Caicos

Conch Bar in Middle Caicos

Also some amazing looking slicks on the North Caicos

Thank you!

I should know the answer but every time I go to Turks I stay on Provo and kite Long Bay. No waves but huge sandy bottom that goes on and on....I know some guys who kite Grace Bay side, can be tricky though with coral at or near the surface. Please post a trip report on North and Middle, might be my next trip....

I went to TC last year for two weeks. The only wave kiting I scored was out on the reef in front of hotels in Provo. The wind has to have some north in it for that to work. Also be careful of the shallow reef - there are some deeper sandy breaks but you have to find them.

But we did take a trip up to middle and north Caicos on a "no wind" day. Really wished I had my gear because it was blowing about 20 side shore at middle Caicos. Downwinders from Conch bar to Blue Horizon looked great. I recommend check out the resort at Blue Horizon and getting lunch there.

Did not check out the beach at Whitby. I think the slicks in North Caicos will be tough to get to - the road is up on a bluff.

Added a couple of pics - the kiting one is from the north end of provo and the other is in front of the Blue Horizon

Have fun!

Thanks J.R.!
Good info.. Will post more if I end up going there.
If anyone have any experience kiting waves in the North Caicos (Whitby), would love to hear about it..

That spot is on the north east corner of Provo, just north of mangrove cay and sw of little water cay. Watch the tides there... The current can be extreme
