Seems like the current testing has proven that light weight is key. At some point a kite may be bigger and have more surface area but it is also heavier , which can effect its ability to fly in light wind.

What are these business decisions? I would imagine given the fact that Core are one of the most expensive brands on the market that the shops margin is higher than on other brands. The people in the video were customers of the shop, you also think they were basing their opinion on business decisions? The Flite looks like an interesting kite and it is good that independent reviews like this can bring interesting designs to the kitesurfing publics attention.

EZ common man. No one is saying that the kite that your friend is the importer for is bad. This has already been addressed in the other thread.

There were no pigs in this test, the question was if you were going to pick one.

(Answering a question from a rider about why in the testing there was a 19 allowed)

I'm not testing for the best 17m kite.I'm testing for the best light wind kite and logic tell me if their 17m kite was the better light wind kite they wouldn't have made a 19...but i have been wrong before.

A 17 cannot beat a 19 at LW.....that's what logic tells me...i have never been wrong about that :bye:
Here are facts not conjecture:

1. I am a newbie to your sport.

2. I am interested in a large kite because I weigh in at 230lbs.

3. I called XLKites and clearly went over my kiting objectives.

4. They absolutely did not push any single kite in their review.

5. The staff spent alot of time exchanging information with me.

6. Based solely on my needs - advanced beginner, older kiter, weight, ect. the CORE was certainly promoted by the shop.

7. At my ripe age I know when I'm being "steered" toward a particuliar product. This was not the case with XLKites.

Lastly, I think more shops should promote "average joe" testing of the new products on the market. Most kite magazines, as far as I can tell, are simply promotional tools to sell the products that pay for advertising space in their publications. If we had true competition, the manufactures would be forced to deliver the best product possible or be without any business - survival of the fittest.

In stead of bashing XLKites why not make sure that Core(if you represent them), improve their product so that it becomes the standard lightwind kite which all other kites are measured.

Happy Kiting!!
