I'm 42 and love to boost on my small kites..... well down to 8m. Not that keen on my 6 it doesn't have the float. ...
How much of your 8m, do you think is actually Flying ?
Bille
Probably about 5 meters! but when the wind is 30-35 knots its awesomely floaty!
I can still remember some of those sessions!
Now what is the projected area of my 6? probably 3.5 meters!

I'm 48 and i just like to jump with my floating Eclipse Thruster 12 m or be ripped from the water by my Wainams 9,7 and 5 m. Very different kites, but very funny at their own ways .
This was what brought me to kitesurf in the old days.

I am 42, trying to learn flat 3's and backmobes when it warms up and broke my ribs looping my 8m in the autumn.
I have been getting into my surfboard while I recover and the waves are good this winter, but I am defiantly not feeling like a 20 year old any more.

Actually, I think the projected area of a 6 is more likely around 4 to 4,5m2 for a LEI
But some C kites with wide tips, could have a projected area of 3.5 for a 6m2, true, so you could be right.
It seems that C kites often have the Projected area/Flat area around 0.6 to 0.7, and SLE kites around 0.7 to 0.75, and foilkites around 0.8 to 0.85 approximately.
Which in converted numbers (to the original "Wipika" 1.36 factor most of us knows):
C: 1.43 to 1.67
SLE: 1.33 to 1.43
Foil: 1.18 to 1.25

Amen to that - not nice being flushed going backwards this time of year... you don't commit as much just thinking about how cold it is going to be!

foolproof learning method - do each stage below 120 times
2 learn back mobes
back to toes side kite high hooked
back to toes side kite low hooked
back to toes side kite low unhooked
back to toes side kite low unhooked inverted
back to toes side kite low unhooked inverted push bar down to hip try and pass - repeat...
and flat 3s
learn to ride blind hooked
learn to ride blind unhooked for a few meters
learn backside surface pass 180 with extra 180 slide around
learn backside 180 ollies to blind (ie pop out of water) hooked in
learn backside 180 ollies to blind (ie pop out of water) unhooked - keep bar pressed to your waist elbows bent
spin 360 on beach
hit a very small kicker - ride downwind into it (slacks bar tension loads - easy to pass) and try to complete the spin - dont worry about bar
get on trampoline with bar and practice
hit a very small kicker - ride downwind into it (slacks bar tension loads - easy to pass) and try to complete the 360 spin and pass - keep bar to your/touching your hip

I talked to Dimitri Maramenidis, and maybe he wants to ride the KOTA in 2015...would be interesting how he does...for sure he has the diversity of tricks, and the height!
Would be tight between Tom and Dimitri!

That would be awesome if dimitri did this. I can vouch that the screamer with dimitri underneath it would be hard to beat! That screamer is a farqing jumping animal. Used to ride edges way past their top end (well we needed crew to hold us down on the beach) and we went stupidly big, then I got on a screamer and scared the living shit out of myself!!!
Bring it on...
Or we could keep talking about back mobes....

lol kitesc00p might get autocorrected into kindergarten but this site is hilariously old and unrepentantly lame! toby toby what kind of glue do you use to hold your board edge foam block on?? You should come out with a special 'air style' foam block for board spinneroos brand of glue!! I'm sure there is a huge market of aging EXTREMECRUISERBOOSTFAN! syncophants here on this forum you could sell to.
