So I picked up a Sector 60 V5 on Friday. Got my first test on Sunday.

Conditions: <10knots

There were a 14m and 17m inflatables that were unable to ride downwind on twintips. We had a few 21m and 18m flysurfers all riding the flyrace dagger board riding with no issues.
I flew a 13m Xbox and the sector 60, hauling upwind like a tank. Its definitely a different feel from the 52 V2. I notice the tri fin rides different. Doesnt seem to catch as quickly, but once moving it feels secure and hauls ass. The board is significantly larger and heavier, but while riding I didn't seem to notice it much. Feels really stable. Im looking forward to more sessions!

Shawn, thanks for updating!
Did you have a chance to try V2 60? If yes, how it would compare to the V5 60 ?
I've been riding 52v2 for few years and rode v2 60 for one season and did not really like it, could not carve and jybe it like I would the 52 anytime, so was wandering if the big v5 is more playfull but still kept its lightwind/upwind abilities like the old v2.

I tried the 60 one design with the quad fin. it wasnt back to back so I cant give a great comparison but if I recall it seemed as if there was more forceback with the quad fin to get it pointed upwind compared to the trifin design. I had no issue rocketing upwind on the tri fin in marginal wind conditions.

I tested my sector in some good chop over the weekend. A way better improvement over the quad fin. Launching off the waves and landing didnt cause any squirling like the quad fins did. Super smooth and fast over the chop. I was thinking that this would be a lightwind flatwater board due to the size but i had alot of fun in the chop and am looking forward to my next session with it! tri fin is a major improvement. I would like to try one single strap at the rear as i had it set up with dual straps for light wind.

I'm thinking on purchase a V6 sector 54 as a low wind (12 to 14 knots) directional board ( I weight 72 Kg)
but this year board say it's 24.4 L (54 x 168) .

I had a Sector 54 V3 and that board was 54 x 172 I don't remember the board say the volume
But for me the 54 V3 had pretty much volume than 24.4L and it was a heavy board.

My question to the kiters that had try both versions, the V6 version have a lot less volume and weight than the V3?
Also based on your experience with the V5 version
The V6 board ride faster or slower than the V3? The V3 have better low end or the low end is similar on the V6 version.

Thanks for your help.

Go for it, at 72kg you'll have a blast. The 54 is light years ahead more fun and playful than the 60 or even the v2 52. Under 160 pounds it makes for a great lw board. Lately when there is no wind on lac st pierre where we ride. The only guys riding, 2 guys with foils, 2 or 3 guys with big lotus 21 and big door and me ith a v4 54 with my 11m xr4 core plus 6m extension. I weigh 148 pounds.

The board carves, boost, tracks upwind and is crazy fast when the wind picks up.

Ps if you have question fell free to ask. I had the v1 60, sector one design 60 plus v4 54, but i also tried a couple of times the v2 52. I also tested the 4 fins race setup vs 3 fins carving, also tried the weed fins ( garbage)

Jumarcil,

comparing the V6 (last year model) vs the V3 or V2. Do you see a lot of less volume on the V6? or V4?
Airush say that the V6 54 it's only 24.4L and for me the V3 had much more volume..................................

Thanks

Hi Manuel V,

Just let me give you an example,
I recently purchased a Sector V5 54.
I have 80 kg, and my biggest kite is a 12m wave kite 3 strut, in the lightwinds I add 3m extension to the 25m long lines my bar has, thus 28m lines, a 12m kite, and a sector 54 V5 this gets me going in 11knts...so if lighter and the right skills, 10 knots would be doable, all depending your skills and Kite size, if you put a 15 or even 17m on it...it will go in the lightest winds as due to the board too it will build up enough apparent wind, that will keep you going, untill you jibe and find out the kite is falling out of the sky.
For me the Sector 54 is my funboard to go, all the time with 12m and sometimes 9M, it jibes, it rides waves ( not really as a waveboard, but damn good still) and if the wind picks up I grab my waveboards.

If you really want to tickle the last bit of wind then you have to go on a Sector 60, but you will be overpowered sooner and will or have to grab a smaller kite or ...a smaller board...
:cool2:
