The numbers arnt adding up here.
850-950 labor in US for a kite = 42.5-47.5 hours at 20 an hour.
450-550 labor overseas at .20 an hour = over 2000 hrs.
I find it hard to believe it even takes 40hrs to build a kite.
10 hrs maybe 15? So 2-300 bucks
We are sending work overseas for a few hundred bucks?
Oh no i forgot its not about the american worker. Why bring jobs here when we can make more money sending it overseas.
Hmm 300 bucks each on 1000 kites yea, nothing like shittin on your own people to make a buck.

does anyone even try and justify why they get a lower rate of pay or society (USA ) just accepts it?
I have no use for people that exploit others. I have been under the impression that these groups are well intentioned, but like most things I am sure there are some horror stories.
You would be correct, My wife teaches Special education in the US the exploitation of disabled workers in the US is unreal.

Here is a Forbes piece mentioning Goodwill. Google will give you a bunch claiming the practices is outdated and incredibly prejudiced. People who work should be paid a fair wage.

Here is a nice video for NBC news.

"A provision in the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) of 1938 gives employers the right to pay people with disabilities below the minimum wage. " yup 1938 is just like sad ... d-workers/

The FLSA has been under attack for decades, no one in the disabled community thinks they deserve less money then a able person, Only able people think it is OK to discriminate against the disabled.
Wow... Just wow.

this thread is gone off topic really bad...

so, what is your point, the private enterprises are greedy? where's the news here? that is why they take their businesses to SE asia.
for example, you want me, an entrepreneur, to pay a legal minimum wage to a disabled person for the one tenth of the job i would normally pay to a healthy worker of low performance? even if i have to hire additional worker(s) just to make sure the disabled workers don't harm themselves and/or the others? well, good thing i'm not the businessman. because i'm dead inside...

i have news for you guys. for that kind of charity the state founded programs and organizations are existing. if your country or state doesn't have one of those you better vote for different party on the next elections.
