Seb why on earth aren't you wearing long pants? I sure do. I like the motocross ones the best, they are not designed for swimming or kitesurfing but they look really nice, give you a sort of drysuit look and don't soak up water. They also give you some protection when you have a yard sale.

Well, because of the temperature! When I am riding and it's 30C outside I don't want to wear anything but a short with a rashguard. No way I would wear a long pants, I have to wear a Drysuit way too long already here so as soon as they water is at an acceptable level I am in short

I'm one of those who swears by SolRX. Seems to last me about 5 hours in the water. Whether surfing or kiting, it lasts. And, it doesn't sting your eyes.

Ombrelle SPF 60 water resistant has worked well for. I apply a layer of 50+ stick on lips and under eyes first.

I can't be in the sun at all.
I'm using Neutrogena Sport 100. It's waterproof like hell and you're guaranteed not to burn your skin if your use it.
Also, it doesn't even make your face white.
Love it.

As stated P20
As a pasty Scottish person my natural colour is a translucent white. I love the sun but it's not so fond of me and I used to get severe prickly heat and burn badly when abroad - used to becasue P20 has pretty much stopped that.
I can put it on in the morning and kite most of the day (will avoid midday sun in hot places during summer months) and be fine. They also do it in SPF 15, 20, 30 and 50 now - it has gone on my very fair 2 year old daughter and protected her
With kiting though you have to be aware of the exfoliation effect of water (think low-level jet wash)on parts like your lower leg - the P20 binds to the skin but if you take those top layers off then you have fresh skin that will burn

I note that all sun creams etc appear to have 12M written on them, which apparently means you should replace it 12 months after buying it as it looses its protection. However, it doesnt appear to have a manufactured date, and the tubes don't appear airtight, so I'd have thought they start to loose their protective ability even before you open it? Wonder what would happen if you bought a tube that appeared new, but had been lying around in a store room for 3 or 4 years, which could easily happen.

Forget most of the sunscreen and cover up. I hate putting that stuff on so now I only put it on my face to protect against reflections and wear one of these:

Yes, I look like a dork but I don't care.

Yeh man that looks a bloody good option. Might get one for the kids, you think your sun is harsh, come and live down under and in the southern parts, bloody big hole in the ozone layer!! We have the highest rates on sun caused skin cancer for a reason.
But I still see too many European tourists red as a beet root!! Stupid.,

A buddy who's associated with Americas Cup sailing turned me onto Watermans. I use the waterproof 55 and find it works great.
