Lightwind kite for heavy rider?

I agree with super. I'm 80k and ride the Edge 19m in 10-15 it would pull you no issue.

At 80k 15-20kns I'm in heaven on the 19m. But I will warn you with the bigger light weight kites they have little protection so you have to take a little more care of with them.

If you like the foils the guys have named the best. You can also get more good foil info from PMU lol.

Toby has given you the best info. Target the kites you want to look at then test away.

I am 235 and have been using Contra 17m for a few months now. I have never flown Fat Lady so cannot compare but I did own 17m Edge. Contra is a lot of fun. Very agile for its size. I even use it with a surfboard and although not ideal it is way better for strapless than Edge. For a big kite it jumps well and is ver easy to relaunch. The only deficiency, at least compared to Edge, is upwind performance. You have to work to go upwind effectively, while Edge was insanely easy.

I go from 17m to 12m and the gap is perfect.

Don't buy into any kind of strutless idea

The strutless is a limited wavekite since it drifts, but it sits too deep and it kills you when apparent wind peaks out ,
with a limited range and huge bar pressure without enabling you to depower the beast.
Design is one thing, acceptance in the market is another. It has got nothing to do with design IMO,
it is solely about marketing BS and nothing for a grown up kiter can make any use of.

This guy is 250lbs / 113kg asking for a kite to be used in 10 - 15 knots wind on a twintip.
To advice him to use a 17m kite is the same as saying a 12m kite is a good lightwindkite sice for a 80kg guy in 10-15knots and its not. 17 is a good lightwind sice for a 80kg twintip guy, for a 113 kg guy to have the same power his tubekite should be 24m.
so as stated before buy a foilkite Speed 21 or 19 or maybe a Chrono 18 foil they do have 20% more power pr m2.
if you have gusty wind conditions still the best lightwindkite for + 100 guys is the Edge 19, seach for it and you will know.

That statement doesn't make much sense.... Many of my Customers weight close to the same, and we consistently ride 17m's in less than 10 Knots. In fact when the wind meter says 10mph my beach is full of Flites and Turbines all on twintips having fun. In the Average Joe kite video the wind was 10 mph.

In what I wrote....what makes you think I am a light weight?

I don't know what skill the guy had, but I was out on 14 strutless BRM and easily held my ground while one of the foils were struggling.

Rides in the ocean at his beach or at my beach

He rides 3 LW kites...and of course lines are always on...never detach them
Speed4 21m2.....Ozone Edge 19m2....North Dyno 2013 17m2 ( true size 17.8m2)

He rides 3 surfboards for LW
Sweet Potato @ 6'5" x 24" x 3 " Quad
North Nugget 2014 5'5" Quad
North Nugget 2013 5'0" Quad

He also rides 2 LW TT's
Flydoor XL170 x 50
Monster Door 165 x 50

In LW 10-15kn ( the wind you are looking for to ride) he is very very very fast when riding Toeside
He also kills it going upwind in 8kn with his lightest breeze set-up
