Those "stupid looking boats" that your mate Carafino told us to "crawl back under the rock of" got 1000 competitors at a recent event. And they get kids on the water as a pathway to the Olympics. And the photo form the 40 knot day was taken from my RIB and I am very proud of my kids for sailing in such extreme conditions that day and on other days I dont have photos of but you can see that large waves will not stop a major event. What is the youth participation in kite surfing. pretty much zero. BUt as James said

stop banging on about the sodding children!

why should it be more traumatic that a child gets hurt than anyone else, are they more valuable is their safety more highly prized than anyone elses.

if YOU were being half drowned in a shore break and the option was to drown but not release incase timmy got hurt or release to leash or completely and be alive enough to deal with timmys upset parents who were letting him play on a windy beach near large breaking waves unsupervised what would YOU do.

for me Timmy is going to have to take the chance…

we are all insured right? ;)

How many competitors attended the US and UK kite nationals and we now have major European championships being cancelled.

Because of the C word.

Raced pram type sailboats at age 8....Sabot class
Been to your country in 1974 and sailed a Contender class sailboat...first time solo on trapeze
I was there as a crew with my dad for the Wayfarer class world championship
Will make a move eventually to get into kite foil...just checking things out at this time...no rush

I have plenty more like that where he used the C word but I didn't want to offend our Canadian contributors.

Nice mini session on the water this evening. Just the two kites on the water getting a small onshore flow at the end of the day.
