Hello guys,
i fixed that way my apex on my kitesurf board, what do you think of it ? (on the left side i use the normal fixation and on the right i use the one u can see on the photo
From my opinion it seems strongly attached and the screws are very tight.
That was the only way i had to fix it on my thorn 2010.
Thx for your opinon.

its a little hard to see what is going on with the darker parts in the pic.
If the strap is fixed and it feel strong then what could be wrong? What seemed to be the problem in attaching the apex to the board?

hello,
actually the issue come from the fact that the apex doesnt fit my board, as u can see on the photo i should have used the proper hole made for binding fixation
instead i used the other one
shall be allright anyway it seems strongly attached

It appears his bindings are wider than the mounting holes, so he used a slot in the casting to insert the mounting screw rather than the engineered mounting point.
I don't think anyone can really give you a good answer. You'll probably be fine, but it wasn't designed to be mounted like that so who knows?? I'd probably make sure the casting is as beefy on the back side as the intended mounting point (meaning it isn't hollow).

The slot in the casting seems to be higher than the regular mounting point, so the screw may not be going into the thread as deep as it should. That may lead to the bolt leverage on the thread insert and probably bend it or damage the thread.
I would try longer screws to compensate the higher mounting point. if you do it, make sure you don't reach the bottom of the insert. I did that years ago on a snowboard.
Also check that the casting on the binding seems as strong as the regular mounting points. A lot of forces go through those bolts. If that part of the binding is not designed to support those forces, it may crack.
What board are you using? Those bindings should be standard width.
