That post seems to refer to a prototype that looked like a modified snap shackle from valbocustom in 2015 - not sure wether it was ever sold.

As for the Infexion QR close copies, I don't think it is very fair, Evan from Infexion has put in creativity, his own money, time, testing etc...
Big brands can protect themselves with patents, go after people who copy them etc, small (one person) ventures like infexion can't

If there are improvements and the original creator is recognized why not, but otherwise it is going to discourage small creative initiatives.

No offense meant, actually I thought the valbocustom mini release prototype posted years ago looked really interesting.

I talked to the guy, he has a good variety of those QRs. They’re less expensive than SK, but are slightly different concept. He takes pride in bearing actually working and they’re kind of sound like a good thing if they fit your riding style and connection type.
I can share more pics if anyone wants

Found this, 150kg load with a breaking load of 800 kgs. Might order one and do a test, definitely cheap enough

Don't trust them. They can hook up at the tip where they open. This happens only once the hinge starts to get loose and have a bit of play. Hard to explain without pictures. At the very least they need to be carefully maintained by filing a critical point. But honestly I would not recommend them for regular use if under load.

+1 ^^. I used them back in the day and reached the same conclusion. Easy for the piston or nose of the hook to develop a burr or crud which hinders proper engagement, resulting in accidental release. Can be used but certainly not carefree operation…….. Same burr/crud can also hinder release under load. (Might need to fettle even when new.)

Not suitable for typical QR kitesurf use imho, even though useful in other applications and relatively cheap.

for those using a rope slider maybe you could make the rope it self the quick-disconnect, and use a simple clip on the bar to clip in. like this LF harness back slider.

anyone tried somthing like this?
