Hi guys,

I have had the BRM Paipo for over a year now and it's definitely one of my fav boards. I had to pad it up because wax just doesn't cut it here in south Texas, it gets hot!!!! I've tried a few waxes and within minutes they are all just a foot lubricant. So I reluctantly padded the board and really love the feel of it. It added some weight but really not to noticeable when riding. I also work for a Shinn dealer so I have a Shinnster on its way too and I'll pad it up. I ride the BRM from flat to just overhead without fins so my plan is to have the Shinnster finned and to keep the Paipo finless. looking forward to riding both boards back to back. JP

A review of the Shinnster by Boardworx which is a UK shop which retails it.

Shinn shinnster Review
What a giggle this board is, I was at first glance of this board a bit worried it might be hard to get up on and ride but I was seriously wrong, I think due to it’s sharp rails and long wide profile it was a doddle to get up on, even for a average rider on a directional like me. `The conditions were light and the water flat, as 100kg rider and the wind only 13 knots and all I had was my trusty 12m F-one bandit I was a bit concerned there would not be enough wind to get me going.
I was ripping, up and gone and so easy to ride, the flex in the board made it easy to carve, it stomped up wind. If there was a down point it was for me a little harder to gybe in such light conditions. Off the plane and with only a tiny amount of board speed whilst swapping feet I came off a few times more than normal. I lent the board out to a few friends and everyone came back with big smiles. The water was flat and with such a light breeze everyone was just trying to stay up wind and do very little else, on the shinnster everyone was trying to carve it, ride it backwards, Ollie it out of the water, up wind was easy just great fun.

As Tim my friend said, that board is brilliant if your bored riding a twin tip, there are no waves for a wave board, and you want to still get wet, it is just great FUN!!!

Nice one Ronnie...and to boot you can also ride waves on it. Actually a lot of fun..more flowey then your average finned board, but super fun.

sent to me by email this morning from a friend..
Meant to tell you! Shinnster... Took it out down in Rest Bay in Porthcawl earlier this week... Two of us out, both on twelves, he was going downwind all the time, I was messing on the waves going downwind but trucking back upwind, and I do mean trucking! He was walking.

Board felt very comfy and obviously was less bouncy than a directional, held its edge perfectly, was easy to use but most of all it was so much fun! Breaking the fins out and sliding it round backwards, actually able to hit a wave all be it a very small one and trying to jump the thing was so much fun! It was like some sort of skateboarding game on a games console. The perfect forecast is currently 12-14 knots and I'll take it in any direction!

Ace board, perfect one board option for summer and can't wait to use it again!

Anyone know what the MSRP is for the Shinnster in the US? Did a google search and only saw shops in Europe.

Davesails, Air Padre Kiteboarding in TX has some coming in. I hope this week since mine is in that shipment. I know they left Shinn a week ago.

So, Colorado,
I assume you got your Shinnster today.
Very interested to read your comparison of the BRM Paipo to the Shinnster.
Let us know what you feel as soon as you get a chance.
Thanks!

I have also just used the Paipo and it turns beautifully, is good on small waves and just a whole lot of fun. I find it easier to start than my other boards with fittings, still learning the turn techniques. Very light about 4KG. Highly recommend. Really good in light winds. I have only used up to 15Kn.

Here is my Shinnster with additional padding.
Weight 3,6 kg with pad and fins.
Takes a few minutes to adapt to the glide, then 100% fun :thumb:

What! Shinnster is $899? $250 more than the brm paipo?

I think ill buy the paipo and if I dont like it ill paint it white, add a red stripe, and sell for a profit :D
