in a high wind environment it is highly possible that the LE will lift and the kite tumble downwind. not every time, not even a majority of the time, but it can and will once in a while.
also, line tangle is sometimes not noticeable until the kite is already part way drifting out. the line tangle that is a problem is when loops in the lines basically knot up (twisted or crossed line is not the issue).
that first problem can be easily dealt with when it happens by allowing kite to flag out on leash system and then resetting and launching.
the second problem is a big problem and can't really be fixed a lot of the time because that knot in the lines is preventing your leash system from functioning, so you might have to lose the kite.
in high wind situations you can drift the kite out in a controlled way by feeding it out along one centerline that you hold in your hand, effectively controlling the drift and keeping the kite in a disabled (flagged out) position. (at least until the last few feet). and prevent both those things from being a problem.
this is also the idea behind unwrapping the bar as the kite drifts. the bar is wrapped with a centerline shortened ( a la self rescue style) so that the kite is disabled with tension on only one line as it drifts out.
